Haltech with stock Cosmo Ignitors & Coils

I recently purchased a Haltech E11 on Ebay (with the Hitman's help....thanks a ton Matt!) I also purchased a set of Cosmo Ignitors and Coils. Does anyone see a problem using these with the E11? Matt mentioned something with the stock ignitors but I didn't question him much on it as I was calling long distance (Canada to Australia). I will e-mail him and ask him to clarify but for now I thought I would ask the list.

the stock ignitors work on a toggle like the trailing fc ones, but they have a 3rd toggle. i dont think you can get em to work.

Bug Haltech to come out with firmware / Halwin to be able to control the stock 20B coils.

The stock 20B coils fire on a toggle system that has 3 levels:  floating, ground (0), and power (+12VDC).  This allows one coil pack to handle all leadings OR all trailings.  This allows the coils packs to be controlled by two channels of ignition per leading or trailing - it's pretty damn ingenius!  So if the E11 can be set-up to do this, it'll only use two channels of ignition outputs.

Basically, the 20B ECU was a slightly modifed 2-rotor version. You got the same ignition pulsing as a 2-rotor. The splitting was done from within the Ignitors.

Thats just another way of explaining it

So what does this mean in terms of wiring to the stock ignitors? Do the ignitors recieve ignition pulses from the ecu at 180degree intervals like a 13B, and then decide the actual firing of the coils based on this?

yes I understand the coils must be fired at 120degree intervals, but DMRH mentioned that the ignition pulsing was the same as the 2-rotor, and the splitting was done within the ignitors, can anyone expand on this at all?

thanks,

Rob.

I just did.
DMRH is WRONG - it is NOT the same as a 2-rotor.
