Hey guys,

So under boost, 3rd gear, my gearbox gives way.. its obvious these series 8 box'es don't handle power. My return trip was a little.. on the noisy side.

The advice given to me is to go a gear set in the standard box (5+k USD). anyone (particulary aussies?) have any experience with these? the option is the t56 conversion that i know a lot of the american's are doing.. i'm not going another standard box! I'ld appreciate it if anyone has local experience they are willing to share.. are there conversion kits?

you aussies have so many aftermarket choices.. like holinger and such..

for 5k you could get sequential tranny or HKS dogmission or a JDM gearset..


how much power are u trying to put thru the tranny?

 

JDM, US it doesn't matter. You start putting enough power down in 3rd, that gear will let go. I just wish someone could upgrade the Rx8 6speeds with M12 T56 style gear ratios. The swap would be so much easier to deal with.

 

I've just been told the gearsets won't help.. on 17 psi its 450 rwkw. Obvious the boxes just can't handle that.
Has anyone got experience with a Dog box.. more specifically a Albins Gearset?

 

don't bother with gearsets...

T56 or v160 OR the dope sequential boxes for 10k +

 

PM GTORX7. (with the period), he now has a dogbox in the shop's demo 20B FD. Right now, it's putting down around 430rwhp completely N/A. While not as grunty as your 20B's 600rwhp, it'll give you an impression of what to realistically expect from a dogbox

As for going T56, they are readily available in Australia too. Holden Monaro's and Commodores use them. Should be the same version as the stateside Pontiac GTO.
