1) To get the ECU and wiring harness, you need to buy the whole Cosmo front clip. Not only is this more difficult to find than an engine, but the front clip usually costs about $2,000 more, which is the price of a standalone EMS.

2) The Cosmo has a lot of junk hooked into the ECU (automatic transmission, variable exhaust outlets, etc.). If the ECU can't find these components, then it doesn't work. Therefore, the ECU would need to be modified to think that the various bells and whistles are still installed. This is NOT easy.

3) As most of you realize, a standalone EMS allows for user tuning, which is going to be required with the non-stock exhaust system, intake, intercooler, etc.

The stock ECU really leaves no room for upgrading.

I'm making an adapter for the turbo TB copying the GReddy unit, but I dunno if it fits the NA TB?&nbsp See other thread...

This car sits in my driveway and doesn't move.

We got it running last year and put a few hundred miles on it. Then the weather got really crummy and I put her up for the winter. At that point, I started thinking I did NOT want an E6K to power this car...

I yanked out the E6K and sold it in december of last year... was moments away from purchasing a TEC3, and I got laid off...

was out of work for 6 months, but finally found a job in June. I've been recovering since then. I hope to have it on the roads next spring.

I've gone through bouts with it as it sits in my driveway... do I really want it? I dunno, but I guess I'm going to finish it. I've had thoughts of trading it straight up as is (running, but needs an ECU) for an FD... but I doubt I will.

Good luck man, it's quite a badass project.

And I think we can all agree that Don Marvel is THE ****!

Don did my 3mm Streetport rebuild, and I'm loving it. 30 years of experience can't hurt

Man! You mean to tell me this car is no longer running?

Oh man! It is such a NICE car! I wish I had it.

Anyways, I like the idea of having a N/A 20B also, should be more than enough power. Anyone has any ideas, or has done it? Degree of difficulty compared to the TT 20B?

OK champ, look above the user name on posts for the original post date. I got all excited when i saw the topic and when i saw how old it was i got angrified. So PLEASE be more careful next time when you bump a thread from the dead, unless it's for a hella good reason or free taco bell or something.

I haven't given up... I got "Dot Commed". Back in school and stuff...

Anyhow, the car is still in the garage. It needs an exhaust and an ECU. I kinda wasn't too excited about getting it going due to the ECU. I kept on wanting to buy an E11, but everytime I'd look into it, I'd just hear bad things. I haven't been following it lately... maybe its ready for prime time, I dunno.

But, like I said... it hasn't been given up on. Its just on hiatus. This car was running and was being driven around before I pulled the E6K out... That was a long *** time ago, but it was still done.

Oh yeah, for the guy that wanted pictures...

http://turbo2mazda.com.darkcloud.org/pics/

I started putting the pics into a gallery, trying to organize them into something that could be navigated. Its still in the works, a lot better than it used to be. I also transferred the daily updates over to a Moveable Type blog, but I haven't gotten around to installing it on my server yet.

Basically, everything on www.turbo2mazda.com is outdated. If it says I'm doing something right now, its wrong. I'm working on redoing the site 100%. I've tried a few new layouts and such... I'll have it all up and useable by next spring when I can hopefully get it going after I graduate.

Send beer and cheese.
