I would get a set if i didnt have a composite hood. I dont want to flex and crack it.

Hey man, I was wondering how did you get enough clearance to close your FEED hood? I'm having an issue where it sits 2-3 inches and just rests on top of the UIM.

 

Thats a common problem and reason why I made my own subframe and mounts. My motor sits 3 inches back and 2 inches lower than traditional 20b swaps in the fd.
I also have the shine auto hood with half reinforcement so i have more room.
I did test fit my stock oem hood and it will still fit and function on the car if I ever decide to put it back on.

 

Are you using shortened LIM? I have 2"+ of feed hood clearance with shortened LIM and defined auto mounts.

 

Just some usefull info *
If you do a 20b swap in a fd in the stock location you will need to shorten the lower intake manifold and possibly readjust your alternator so they dont hit the hood.

 

Think I might shorten my LIM when I tear down the engine for rebuild. Currently I nodded the bonnet to clear the engine instead.
Is it just a simple job of cut off the LIM flange shorten the runners by 2" and weld the flange back on? Does not effect anything under the manifolds? Injectors etc? Can you retain the top mounted alternator with a short belt or must it be moved?

You can shorten the lim and everything will clear and fit. You are correct, you just cut off the flange and cut what you need off the lim and weld the flamge back on. Few companies around the globe do this really well and are setup to do it perfectly.
As far as the alternator yes a shorter belt can give you the room you need if the alternator is in the way.

HAHA no not even. I refer 3 and 4 rotor swaps as unicorn swaps. They are rare

 

Oh right! I see now.. You guys have a fair few 3 rotors on your side of the pond comparatively. Like rocking horse **** over here!

 

I am using the pettit subframe. Basically, the motor is sitting as low as possible and the only reason why the Authentic FEED hood doesn't fit is because of the inner louvres. I am fairly certain even if I did trim the LIM it still wouldn't clear the FEED hood. Wish I knew that before hand, but I did end up selling it fairly quickly. Thanks for the responses.

Little update. I been super busy with life lately so I have not had much time with the car. I did make some changes and some headway.

The tein coilivers I had were very stiff for the street. They handled well but killed my lower back. I was looking into moton, penske and ohlins coilovers when I was introduced to a fella named dave at stance.
Just the general name stance puts up red flags for some and I myself was skeptical.
Talked to dave for about a hour and I was sold. They are coming out with a new line of 1, 2 and 3 way coilovers. These new coilovers are vuilt to be direct competition with ohlins, penske, moton and other big names in the industry. I was lucky enough to be selected to buy a set and run and test them.
This is what I had made for my setup.
One way coilovers
Pillowball top plates
Swift 12k/12k springs
Custom valved to my car
Aluminum bodies.
These offer over 400lbs of dampening adjustability like ohlins where the teins, meagan, fortune auto ect all only have around 100lbs of dampening adjustability.
So far they feel amazing and offer great feedback and response as well as good timing between bumps from front to rear. Installation was easy and quality is top notch. I will post the pic of them below which are the actual coilovers on my car, I think he took pics for the website when they put them up.
Retail on a exact set will be around 3200-3600$ from what im told.

I also have been messing with the aem infinity and all its ve capabilities. So far its very complicated from what im use to on the past aem series. I was able to do some 4th gear wot pulls last weekend at 7psi and it makes full boost at 3200 rpms on the bw s480 which is cery exciting.

Definitely let us know what you think of these coilovers. I was looking into these as well but it isn't a priority at the moment.

 

So far so good. Only thing i dont like is the top adjuster/spanner nut on the body which is also the piece the spring sits on is too skinny so its a pain to get the wrench on. But then again preload isnt a thing that is constantly in need of adjustment. Ither than that I love them and wouldnt get rid of them.
