20B RX7 in future possible?

I keep having dreams of the next gen RX7 equipped with a 20B.... You guys have any knowledge as to whether or not this is even a possibility? I mean...in my narrow (one track 20B) mind it would be incredible and would really up the performance expectations of a rotory in the eyes of the public. It would be wonderful.

Is it possible?

I think I read somewhere that mazda said they would never build another 3 rotor engine for production.

yes i would love to see a 20b renesis motor but i am
sure that it will never happen the efficiency of the
20b is sure to make it impossible to sell, how many
people are going to want to buy, say a rx7 with a motor
that only gets 18 mpg,, i know i would
best we can hope for is a renesis 13b supercharged
model which i am almost 100% sure is in the works.

yeah, after having driven one i see why it a) was never brought here in the first place and b) why the chance of another is almost zero.
its too hot, thirsty, smooth, and complex for americans

Only in your wildest dreams. 20Bs would pretty well torpedo Mazda's CAFE numbers. Unless Ford/Mazda decided to build some sort of multi-rotor halo car, e.g., a 4-rotor GT40, I believe the corporate beancounters are going to push continued development of the Renesis engine.

One idea that they could pursue, but probably won't, is a multi-rotor with variable timing and injection that would default to two-rotors when cruising--like the v-8s that electronically inactivate 4 cylinders. That would allow the wonderful acceleration of a 20B (or 787B) with socially-responsible fuel mileage.

I'm sure the term "beancounters" was an effort to trivialize their positive contributions and emphasize a tendency toward a myopic focus on the bottom line. My usage was intended to convey a greater concern with CAFE requirements than with creating a fabulous car. As I understand it, such concerns in the past doomed a rumored 3-rotor version of the 2nd gen and, on this side of the Pacific, the rotary-powered Corvette.

The plans for the proposed 3-rotor gathering are a little to nebulous for a commitment, but I'll endorse it.
