20b pix from import drags @ Sears Point

Here are some pix from this weekends event on Sunday. Unfortunately, rotories were not very well represented, at least in numbers. The few that were there were kicking *** though, with the exception of Abel Iberras 20b fd. He had some tuning issues I guess. That sucked because that was the one car I wanted to see run. We did get to see some major tankslapping at about 150mph that ended up grazing the wall and flipping (one of the summit cars).

A distributor cap on a 20B.

Interesting.

Just upload the pic and then add {img] and {/img] once you have the URL of the pic. Use [ instead of {. I used { so it would show up in the post.

It looks like three ins and three outs. And you can sorta see some coils in the pic. They look like 2nd gen. But L or T? I'm not sure.

Forget the dizzy cap... the dizzy cap is a normal 2-rotor cap.

While it would be nice to know what the hell it's doing, what I'm drooling over is the Porsche 3-barrel IDA carb used for a PP 20B

edit: I'm laughing my *** off now! Look at the wires on the cap. They loop around and connect back to another terminal on the cap! IT'S A DUMMY DISTRIBUTOR.

Hmm, well one sure does look like it loops around. Kind of a waste of plug wires, but look at how much he spent on the rest of it.

I was going to use a dizzy cap as a cover on mine, but I was going to leave it naked. Same as for my L and T direct fire igniton for a two rotor engine.

I did not go on Saturday when he ran, apparently he's been having some major tuning problems. He didn't run on Sunday at all.
Here is another pic of that n/a 20b.

I forgot the GSL-SE Tstat cover is straight up, not curved. I have access to two 12A covers

Hmm, it looks like the oil metering pump has custom rubber hoses connecting to stock oil lines to fit around the water pump. I don't see a rod to actuate it (I know the 20B's was electronic). Is he using an ECU to run his OMP or something? Nice custom firewall (I think). What kind of alt is that? Maybe it's a starter?

i think that may be a generator? its the only thing belt driven. it also looks like the motor is closer to the fire wall than stock, the white stuff looks like heat insulation? we noticed that everyone with an austin healy last weekend had the same thing. it is wierd that the metering pump is still there, maybe he built a stepper motor controller to run it? or he took the motor off and wired it open (if you take the motor off is almost a regular pump)

Oh, I see what it is. It's an electric water pump drive motor. That's pretty cool!

So you can remove the motor from the OMP and it becomes like the old style? That's good to know since I was planning on installing a GSL-SE or NA '86 OMP and hooking the three rotor housing oil lines to it with the last one going into the carb, like RB's Holleys do. I'd just wire it to 50% open so it'd run a little rich at idle and a little lean at WOT. I don't plan on running WOT very often, so it would probably be all right. A little premix wouldn't hurt either.

Can anyone see what kind of tranny that is? I see the slave cylinder's bleeder screw is near the oil filter. Is that how it is in T2 trannies? That's kinda how it is in old ribcase trannies. The smoothcase trannies (SA22C) locate the slave cyl further rearward which means you don't have to remove it to do an engine swap, like you do with old ribcases.

Hey, that thing near the oil filler tube looks like a NOS solenoid. Or maybe it's some sort of funky proportioning valve?

i bet the solenoid thing is a line lock, it looks like its in the braking system. i can't see the tranny well enough, the t2 trannies have a slave cylinder thats in almost the same place as the smooth case, but who's running 10's on a smooth case?

So the old ribcase trannies are the only ones with the slave mounted really far forward then? I took a few pics of mine. Will update my web page some day (I'm too lazy, hehe).
