20B FD Running

I am excited that the 20B FD is now starting to come alive. It is a streat port 20B with a GT42R single turbo and uses E85 as fuel.

Here is a very short video running at 12PSI boost.

So far so good.

Are you premixing with the E85, or still using the OMP? I've been thinking on trying E85 but have not found 2-cycle oil that is ok for more than 10% ethanol.

The turbo came from ATP, it was around $2400. Everything else is scratch built.

I am premixing. I did just enough work to verify the premix oil would not fall out of the E85 to badand that there was some oil still left after the E85 evaporated. I want to look into some of the ester based synthitics in the future.

Awesome car! Please post some more daytime vids! You just need some feed sideskirts to finish it off. Any idea how much power you're making?

I did the corner weights today and I was way way off on what I thought it weighted.

Weights:

LF 756/26.1% RF 632/21.8%
LR 719/24.9% RR 780/27.0%

Total weight: 2887lbs

Weight distribution: 48.1% front, 51.9% rear

So the bad news is it's heavier than I thought, the good news is it has a great weight distribution.

Both the main tank and header tank were full for a total of 22 gallons.

The car got dynoed today, it did 583 RWHP at 12 pounds boost. On the stock ignition I could not get it to go over 7500 RPM without a miss. With a CDI box (assuming that fixes it) I'm pretty sure I can hit 675 RWHP at 8500RPM on 12 pounds. The torque was compleatly flat (I bet within 1 or 2 percent) from 4500 RPM to 7500 RPM. I'm guessing that will carry on through to at lest 8000 RPM.

Video from the dyno:

Wow. I'm really impressed. IMO, this is one of the cleaner 20b installs, and I'm equally impressed that your power is way up there for the "lack" of boost. 12lbs is great. it's the builds like these that maybe me purchase my 20b block in the first place.

Are you presently running a stock tranny? What sort of exhaust setup are you running? I'm assuming custom, but wondering about diameter and muffler configuration..

Your car looks fantastic! Love the all around clean work. Very impressive!

If you don't mind me asking, who did the work? Was the car built by you or a shop?

It is the stock transmission. For now it is the easy way to go, if it starts being a problem then that will have to be relooked at. The exhaust is 3.5 inch with a single 3.5 inch straight through muffler. The wastegate is just open. Driving around town at 1500 RPM in 5th no one even gives it a second look. When the wastegate opens dogs, cats, kids, everyone runs for cover.

The roll cage, driveline hoops, flywheel shield, front subframe, oil pan, shifter, and header tank were done at a local race shop. The CNC oil pan plate, fuel rails, FMIC, most plumming, headers, exhaust, and engine install were done by the car owner Andrew. I did the engine wireing, ECU install, and tuning.

Yes it is. It made a cheep power pulley that keeps the alternator from reving to 18,000 RPM. I think it helps give a little more contact area to the waterpump pulley also.
