Some guy in Australia just ran a 7.60 at 175 mph using a 20B in an (I think) RX-3. There's a link to an .mpg in another thread.

Heh, you'd be surprised Jeff how much a turbo rotary engine, well, "long block" with all its support systems weighed... compared to an aluminum Y-block designed newer vette, there fairly close i do believe.

jeff20B, is there alot of rotary people in the pacific northwest? i just moved to oregon about a week ago... without any vehicle

Peejay, what is the C5's tranny name? is it the z06 thats an MN10 (or something like that?)

As you can tell I dont keep up much with the vettes, to pricey for me

I expect my Cosmo to actually loose weight from a 20B install.

Cooper, I only rarely see the old school rotaries running around my area. Infact, one day a couple months ago I saw a nice purple RX-2 or 3 (hard to tell them apart from where I was) and it had a possible brideport in it (the sound gave it away). I also saw a white RX-4 the same day. It's been like a year or two since I last saw anything out there and suddenly twice on the same day. Then a couple weeks ago I saw an RX-4 in a parking lot off of 99 and the guy was just pulling in so I reved my friend's white REPU as I drove by (I just installed an alt in it and he had borrowed my REPU so we were swapping back) and he reved back at me. It was pretty loud and I have no idea what sort of porting it had. Oh, I also live near a rotary guy that has an REPU and an RE5 (rotary motrcycle)!

I saw one Rx-3 behind stick& stien sports bar like a year ago. it was a circut racer I'm not sure which class but was stripped had all kinds of body work and lighting done to it. It even had a tube that went inside for "A/C" that was made of plastic hose.

i used to see alot of old mazdas/rotarys at the track, infact, i saw alot of old cars that you normally wouldnt see, the Supra driver i pitcrewed for ran an rx3 before his mk4 i believe, but i could be wrong...

Naw, they just wanted to increase the interior room! Ever drive a C4? CRIPES.
Ever driven/gotten into a rt/10 viper with the top on? that takes some skill as well, specially if you dont want to heat up the backs of your legs.

The original Viper is a good example of what happens when you try to make a performance car using a small pickup truck (Dakota based suspension!) with more power than should be sane and big huge tires to handle the lack of handling ability.

Funny, that's almost exactly the same formula that the 427 Shelby Cobra used.... not enough chassis, too much power, and compensate with HUGE tires

Thanks.
Matt's motor is by no means a one off, or anywhere near it.

jeff has been building those motor parts and modifying factory parts for 3 rotor engines for well over 10 yrs. a guy not far from me has one of his first motors, its a custom 3 rotor n/a Peripheral Port, it sounds F@#KING glorious. The sounds can only be heard to be described. it'd best be put as the sound of turbine smooth power delivery. its such a distinctive note when on full song.

Matt told me some time ago he had it Custom made for him and there was not many Custom built Non PP Triple engines out there.

I would love to build a Triple engine from 13b bits it just i'm not ready for a full blown PP engine, i want to build up to it in a few years.

I am joining this thread late, but there was a question about handling. My 3Rotor in a FC TII, with porper suspension upgrades, runs like it is on frinckin' rails. It is awesome!!! I have two RX-7's, both are 10th Anniversary editions. The stocker is a joke as compared to the 20B. I sometimes wonder why I keep it. Actually, when I question why I have my 3Rotor, I take the stock TII out for a spin. It only takes about 2 seconds of driving it to answer my question. The first thing I notice - the TORQUE!
