I don't know what Logan did with my old three rotor. I thought he had a car to possibly put it in. He might have sold off the separate parts. I did notice he had some three rotor stuff for sale. I think that was what you were asking. There was nothing wrong with my new three rotor engine.....something just came along I couldn't pass up.....the holy grail of rotary.

I hope to have my new engine in and dialed in by early spring!!

Update:

If someone is actually reading all of this still then they probably deduced that I now have a 4 rotor engine. I bought a full kit at a deeply discounted price so I went for it.

Then we sold off the 3 rotor.

Other than how badass a 4 rotor 2nd gen is going to be...I was kind of thinking that it might be too much for this car. I just felt like I would be happier with the 4 rotor in something else.

Then I started looking at 3rd gens. I saw the Rocket Bunny kit and thought that would make an awesome time attack/street ride. After dreaming of 3rd gens and searching around it came to me what I want to do with the 4 rotor.

When I first saw the Ultima GTR 15 years ago I thought I want one with a 3 rotor. Well now I have a 4 rotor and I dont' want a Ultima...I want and RCR SL-C. RXHeaven is already well along this path. I have spoken to him.

[IMG][/IMG]

That red one is not my car. I don't have one yet. It has the race tail section. They have a street tail section as well.

Our Cars - Superlite SLC | Superlite Cars » Made in the USA, Engineered to Win

So that is the long term plan with the 4 rotor! I won't even start purchasing the kit for another year or so.

That leaves me with a 2nd gen and no engine. So after dreaming of over 500hp in my 2nd gen it was sort of hard to go back to only maybe 350 or so with a 3 rotor N/A.

So Logan and I talked and I am now getting another 3 rotor. This time it will be a little different semi pp. Instead of six ITBs I will use the original intake (modified), and three ITBs on the PPs. Then dry sumped, ceramics and some of Logan's oil and cooling mods he has done on his 4 rotor car.

Logan's back log is clearing up and I am hoping to have the GTUs done by the end of the year....or sooner.

Awesome. I myself have dreamed of doing something similar. The 4 rotor really needs a race car shell to call home.

Yeah, things do change and grow when car projects take over 5 years...

Great minds think a like. That SL-C has been a 4 rotor fantasy of mine for several years. I'm gonna build one once I build my new house with HUGE car garage out back.

That's exactly where I am. I am trying to buy land back in Arkansas and get my house built. Then it's SLC time.

I am going to start collecting parts once I get my build sheet developed.

Great Minds!!

These pics are ancient, but you get the idea. I really need to take some new pictures to upload but the first pic is one of my all-time favorites. It really shows the difference in size compared to an FD.

If I could start over again, I would go n/a 4-rotor and avoid the headache of squeezing in a properly designed W2A turbo system for the 20b. I already had the 20b though...

Have you talked to Fran about the 4-rotor fitment?

Cool side by side! Thanks for the perspective..

I have not spoken to Fran.

I did stop by CLP Motorsports in Concorde CA. and checked out three different RCR offering, the SL-C and two LMP2 I think it is called. The LMP2 I saw is a Nemises with a full body....I think.

With the correct fitment of dry sump and accessory pulleys it should just fit. There are too many variables I am seeing right now to be sure. But the plan will be to send the engine to RCR and have the mounting designed in to the build. It might need to have the rail at the front of the engine notched. But that is yet to be seen.

Logan thinks that the telescoping intake runners can fit...possibly. My biggest concern is keeping the thing some what quiet....(relatively).

The issue I have right now is I have decided to move back to Arkansas and now I need to buy property and build a house. That is definitely going to slow movement on this.

My immediate plans are getting the GTUs done with a 10k rpm, dry sumped 3 rotor. I think that this is the best option for the FC.

I did watch some (listen) Youtube videos of the 787 last night. I definitely think the SL-C is the car for the 4 rotor.

They don't actually roll up but somehow opens. You can also get the same vehicle in a topless version called the LeMans. Both versions are show below.

I am thinking that if I do this I will just build a track car. So many of the issues I have and expense will be reduced. I also don't know that I need another high horsepower street car.

I have to build a house and possibly a new building for my business. It seems like it is way off in the future. At least I have the four rotor in waiting.

Hello from long, long ago!

Life and the world sure has changed since this build and thread got started. But the build has always been moving slowly forward.
Well, it actually took a long step back because the sack of **** custom body work and car restoration dirtbag in Missouri name Doug Jenkins Garage. Doug you are human *****....fu#%ker

I spent a very large amount of money on custom metal fenders and paint. He was supposed to take 3 months...took more than 2 years. It was delivered to Logan and the body work was already cracking....
Anyway, when it finally got back to Defined Autoworks I was like 4 in line for a big custom job with Logan.

But in that time I sent it to Steve Rieser at

Autobody Collision Repair Gahanna OH | Dent Removal and Repair Reynoldsburg - Rieser's Autobody East

He did absolutely an amazing job of correcting the car paint and under the paint damage the loser *** sack of feces Doug Jenkins did to my car.
The car looks soooooo much better and soooo much more like Mazda built a wide body RX7. Just like I had dreamed of.

I have some crappy pictures or it....sorry that is all I have. I have not even seen it in person as it has been sitting in a storage unit near Defined waiting to get some other parts machined and for Logan to get set to move on it. We are almost there!

Well the thread needs a new name. Now it should be called the .......
1989 GTUs 26B Whipple Supercharged Wide Body RX7 Build

That is what is happening soon. There are some cool things we are doing to make it a little different besides the fact of the Whipple. I will let Logan tell some of the custom work as I am still not exactly clear how it is all going together.

But the basics are:

Custom 26B
Fuel Tech FT600
Whipple Supercharger
Custom Water to Air Intercooler
TREMEC TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission
Beyond Redline Custom Clutch setup Per Howard Coleman's advice
Ford 8.8 Ronin Kit 3.73 W/ OS Giken Super Lock 1.5 Diff

This is still going to be a while but all the last parts are getting sourced and finding time for Logan to get on it. But basically everything is bought and at Logan's. We just need to get a few of the final pieces sorted out before the engine can go together. I need a 8.8 carrier, the diff, Fuel Tech and little bits. It all just needs to be ordered really.

295/18 R888

Forgeline center mounts.

I have two lips. The stock and a customized Shine Auto one. Neither are on in either front picture. It definitely looks better with either lip on.

Look at the perfect gaps.

By the way, I am not doing the RCR at all.....ever. I might someday buy a complete GTR Evolution when my Cryptos and PMs go to the Moon but I am so over projects. I need to finish my RX7 and my Audi RS6 and I am done.

Hello Gordon,

Yeah, nice to be finally making movement forward. This is almost a nine year project. Man how life has changed..
I moved out west 5 years ago. I tried to make a move back to Arkansas a couple of years ago but the universe seemed to insist I stay out here. All good though.
I hope we move up to southern Oregon in the next two to three years.
Logan and I actually started making plans for the current specs about two years ago. It was just a matter of me getting back to the front of the line.
I hope your ride is keeping you satisfied! I really like the exhaust set up!!

Your journey is inspiring in the sense that I look at my 7-year, ongoing saga with my FC and get discouraged and depressed and feel like throwing the towel in, but the majority of my missteps along the way were self-inflicted. I imagine it's much harder to take if someone else causes your turmoil AND you have to pay for it. However, here you are ... still in it and with even bigger plans about to see fruition. You should be proud of yourself.

Good luck with it all and I can't wait until you are able to start enjoying your dream.

I just read this whole thread to see that there is no ending, is there newer thread or build page somewhere else? This build is awesome, wish I could see the final form of this fc.
