Yes, definitely more room both directions.

I seem to have read long ago that the FC was designed with the idea of putting the 20B in it one day. Might just be internet lore...

In one of my books they were experimenting with making the 10th ani. ed, a N/A 20b.

A question:

I have removed all of the heat shields to do the suspension work and to spray the Lizardskin underneath. I am planning on wrapping the complete exhaust system for three reasons.

1. Scavaging effect
2. Heat barrier
3. I think the wrap will give the exhaust a lower tone.

My question is, is there any reason that I need to put the heat shields back on?

Thanks, C

not really. if you aren't running a cat and you wrap your whole exhaust you shouldn't be retaining heat in your exhaust such that you'd need those shields. They are just something extra to rattle loose under the car.

Beautiful car Christopher,

Thanks for the transmission and it's still running strong, I plan on restoring my Black 90GTUs to bone stock, and something like yours with a widebody to my other clean title white 90 GTUs. oh I also got a 3rd 90 GTUs just last week.!!

So, I have the car done on my end. I will be taking it to Defined Autoworks the first of next week.

The bins had to be moved back to work with the roll bar. It came out very nice. I am disappointed in the carpet job for the back deck. It is the first time I was not real sure about the guy I hired. The guy I really wanted to do the carpet takes months to get in to see. I will have it redone when I get the car back. It is an ok job but not up to the standard of the rest of the car.

It is amazing how much better this car looks in person than in these pictures. I literally had to make myself go to bed last night. I was still up at 12:30am just staring at it basically.

Here is a close up of the mirrors. At first I really didn't like them. I thought they were way to ricer looking. Then the next day I really liked them. I think when I get the car back I am going to sell these and get the same ones in fiberglass and have them painted black. The plates are really well made. They are not just two flat plates. They are curved in two different directions.

Thanks Gordon, I would love to make it out to your place. Time will tell..

BTW, I still have the stock mirrors. It is nice to have the choice. I am very curious to find out if the plates or the mirrors make excessive wind noise.

Here is another thing I am trying. It is an Allview mirror. Seeing how I have already cut off my rear view mirror...I hope I like it.

You would be the first...

Yea, this paint is sort of a nightmare. I don't know if Mazda paint just sucks real bad or what. Anything scratches this paint. Enamel paint and no clear coat is a head ache. I mean finger prints scratch this paint.

Hell bubble wrap would scratch this paint. It will just require some major buffing when I get it back.

Where did the previous owner get those supercharger brackets? Which model of Paxi/Novi did it use? Thanks! The project looks great!

That was a kit that was made many years back by a guy named Nelson using a Paxton supercharger. I think he sold the rights to it to Mariah Motorsports. Then they sold it to another guy who bought the rights to that specific model supercharger from Paxton.

Anyway, the guy that bought it from me now has the kit up for sale. I think the supercharger needs a rebuild but anyway he has more information on it than I remember personally.

Here is a link to his FS ad.

Hey Chris,
Ever since your post way back about “I Finally bought R. Truax’s GTUs”, I’ve been wondering what direction you took with this car. At the time when you first posted about this car, I remember you were leaning towards ripping out the Paxton and doing turbo/haltec conversion... I do believe I owe you an apology. Back then I complained that you had just bought “the perfect GTUs” and why would you want to “hack” it up??? Here we are almost two years later and I have to say that I’m very impressed with the project. The 3-rotor NA definitely holds true to the GTUs heritage! (IE: No GXL fat Luxuries, simple drive train, and most of all Fun!) Congratulations on a job well done and keep up the great work.

^^^ Thanks, it has been a long trip so far... Now it is out of my hands. I feel very confident with Logan.

Yea, I remember that "hack it up" comment. I still am having a hard time not going blown. Staying N/A is very appealing, like you said it keeps the GTUs heritage. But I am not one for being sentimental. I really have no desire for 550 rwhp in a street car but I would like say maybe 420-450rwhp. If I do anything it will be along the lines of what Gmonsen is doing with a Whipple SC and A/I injection. We will see... I have a feeling when I get the car back I will be very satisfied with what Logan gets out of it.

To me this is just a visceral toy and I have nothing to prove....

So, I've got a question. Just how difficult is it to put a 20B into an FC? I mean other than the EMU and the difficult parts like manifolds.

That is a big question.... I do think that it is a bit easier than a FD.

Here is a link to a thread that might give you some direction. You might also try the FAQ in the 20b section.

LOL! Glad to see your ego isn't what's driving this project.

I'm sure when you get the car back from Logan, you're going to need to evaluate where you're at with the project. Test the 20B and decide if you're going to continue hunting for more power. My only advice is don't try and follow Gordon! LOL! That guy is crazy. :P

beautiful car, cant wait to see it done.

The rear view mirror reminds me or the mirrors on the school buses so the drivers can keep an eye on the kids, but to each his own.

Yea, it is completely for function. I love to sit in the seat and see from one side to the other behind me. Also, the side view mirrors are a bit on the small side so this helps..
