Yet another idea from the twisted mind of $100T2...

So I took off my power mirrors. Why? I don't like them. They're ugly. I got good old fashioned turbo mirrors. They will be pimp, especially when color matched to the car. Anyway, that leaves a question... What to do about the power mirror switch. Sure, I can leave it there, non-working.

Or...

How hard would it be to re-wire the switch to make it an anti-theft thing? Sure, I'm gonna have an alarm and all that good stuff, but what if I could rewire it into the ignition wiring so that if the mirror button is switched to control the left mirror, the car won't start, but switch to the right mirror, and it controls a relay allowing the ignition to work?

Yeah, it's a bit tricky, but damn, that would be cool. I love to frustrate thieves.

Heh. My converted GSL-SE uses a jumper to run the fuel pump. I'm going to wire up and hide a switch for basically the same purpose. Sure, it'll start and run for a bit, once the fuel bowls run dry (Not long, as I found out) it's not going anywhere fast.

I've got that same jumper, and already wired in a foglight relay switch to control that. And the switch is hidden where NO ONE would EVER look for it. Ever.

Heh, back in the day I used the same concept. I wired the power window switch inline to the starter igntion wire. It also had an alarm with ignition kill and a hood lock. I liked it, if anything it made me feel safe.

Speaking of which, that gives me an even better idea for a "hidden" switch. I'm getting a back glass from a friend with no rear wiper. 'nuff said!

Snot a twisted idea at all - a rather good one, in fact.

Just wire the fuel pump power into the mirror adjustment switch so when you have it flicked to the left, say, it powers the pump but in neutral or to the right, no power. Just tap into the fuel pump power wire and run it up to the switch, crimped to female ends that slide over the appropriate spades. So simpo.

Nope. Let's put it this way: The switch is behind a hole that I drilled, and you'd need to know exactly where that hole is. It can be easily reached from the drivers seat, but is 150% hidden. There is no indication it's even there.

Well, I already have a control on the fuel pump... I'd like to have a second one on the ignition.

My FB has 12at "barn door" style mirrors. Folding and powered.
