Yeeehaw!

Went to the junkyard today and pulled the whole rear end off an 85 GSL. I will be putting it on tomorrow. Now I will have an LSD and some rear discs. Picked it up for 150 bucks, very reasonable if you ask me.

My only question is: What, if any, are the differences in gearing between an 85 GS open rear and an 85 GSL LSD rear. Thanks in advance.

Ben

Gearing is the same for all 12A powered RX-7's.

Hey thats good you got if from a 85.

84/85 have thicker axels, and you can use the same drive shaft,if it was pre 83 you would need the drive shaft if you were putting it in a 84/85 car.

The rear end on this forum typically refers to the rear axle. On other forums and in real life, 'rear end' means many things.

Weird man, I just went and helped two other people pull one from an 81 GSL today too!

We got the rear end disc to disc with the struts and control arms still attached and everything plus a lower dashboard piece thing, and some other dashboard panels for $92 and some change .

Don't you also need to change some other brake components, such as proportioning valve?

I didnt mean to make him feel bad, I was just talking about my find too . Sorry if I did man .

The $150 is very reasonable, and the guys that I helped were going to pay that for the one I found them too, but the place had recently lowered their prices on certain items, giving us a better deal.

Actually, the prices at that yard are very nice because they use a flat rate for everything instead of a "market value" or a reduced price based on a new part price. So a door from any car is like $20, and a door from any truck is like $25, or a turbo or supercharger from any car is $16.50, or any tail light under a certain length is one price, longer its another, etc.

I wish my junkyards around here would do that... I'd pay $100 canadian for a door here, and probably $200 for a turbo.... damn ripoff artists...
