Question Would anyone be interested?

I have owned RXs since 87'(85gsl,80 gs,87 turbo,88turbo), I have autocrossed since 88' and took a break from it in 95'. I am now rebuilding my 85gsl. Alot of the parts I am manufacturing myself. I am thinking about building some of these parts to sell. Would anyone be interested if I started selling some of this stuff? I am building or have built the following: Oil block under the oil filter for gauges billet alum.($35range), spacers to go under the struts to correct the geometry of the suspension after it has been lowered billet alum.($55 range), fiberglass hood($225-250 range), carbon hood($350 range), fiberglass or carbon head light lids($30-40pr), carbon or fiberglass front valance between the headlights ($100.00 range) front adjustable strut tower brace, plates machined out of billet with adjustable rod ends($150-175range).

You can see some of my work at http://members.cardomain.com/7heaven

Oh, also, I can have really nice cages done for $1200-1500.

Thanks! I am actually considering a website. I have registered www.rotaryautosports.com . I am purely going to do this as a hobby and to help others in 1st gen. performance. The things that I am making or having made are items that I have proved or proving on my race car. I am not claiming to be an expert by any means, just know what I have experienced.

Thanks again for your input!

Hey!

I should have shown you when you came over....or did I? I have not made the plates yet but I have everything lined up to do it. Also, with your coil over kit, you will find that you will need these spacers that go under the struts. The cheapest I have found them is $70.00(Mazda Comp.), I am selling them for $55.00. If you still have my cell give me a call, I am leaving the office for a couple hours.

Ok, where do these spacers go? I'm confused... are they a plate that goes between the conrol arm and strut, or under the cartridge or where?

I'm not heard anything about needing them.... And yes, you showed me the strut brace, that's why I want one...

They are a spacer that goes between the strut housing and control arm. The spacer brings your roll center back to the stock position. This eliminates extreme roll center movement and provides more predictable turn-in. Basically it is 2 spacers and 4 extended grade 8 bolts. Mazda Motorsports sells them for $70.00. I have seen them for $100.00 at other suspension sites!

dear lord that's alot for two plates and 4 bolts...

Now I see why you want to make them... Look kinda like an ACV blockoff plate but just a little bigger, right?

gslse, they are just a chunk of alum. The cost of them is just getting the machinist to run them. I have to have 10 pairs made to even get them done! I will bring a pair out to the race Sun. if it is not raining.

82transam, you can paint the carbon just like metal. The hoods mount just like the stock hood except you have to use hood pins to hold the hood. It is just to much work to make the hood latch with the factory latch. I will get pictures as soon as I have everything made. Also, I plan on being at Sevenstock 5 with all of the product on my car.

Hood weight?

The carbon work you did with your dash looked very impressive; I'd be interested in a carbon hood.

Has anyone weighed the stock hood? My guess is a 5 lb. carbon piece would take ~30 lbs. off the car.

This is a bit off topic, but I need those gaskets that go on the spacer between the carb and intake for an 85 12A. Could you make those or show me how?

1st7heaven, where did you get that electric water pump that I saw on your page? By the way, kick *** work on the car, looks awesome. How much did you have to replace when you removed the stock water pump/housing and how does your belt routing go now?

Project84, I dont have this done yet. This all comes from Mezier. If you can wait a couple weeks, I am making the billet plates myself. The pump has to be purchased from Mezier. The pump runs about $275-300, it pumps 35gpm. The plate runs around $90.00

The only thing is you have to fab a bracket to hold the alternator. The belt then runs on the motor and alternator only.

I am working on the chassis right now and have not worked on this part of it.

Would you consider buying one of these once I have mor info........$60 range??? The reason is I have to have 10 pcs. made at a time!!!

Oh yah, I will have all of the fittings to convert from NPT to either AN or radiator hose!

I'm interested in the strut tower brace, the strut spacers, the body panels and the water pump.

Ok, I just got all of the info. If I can get just 3 people to commit to this water pump system, I can sell the water pump adapter plate(polished alum.), 4ea. 1"npt X 12an fittings for the outlets on the plate and remote pump(anodized blue), 2ea. 1"npt X 1-1/2" fittings for the inlets on the plate and remote pump(anodized blue), and the 12volt, 35gpm, heavy duty, remote mount pump for $445.00. This eliminates the factory water pump. I have not done this yet but you have to machine a new bracket to mount your alternator. Also, this improved 5hp on the dyno, also at high rpm the factory pump cavitates the water and does not cool. This unit gives you a constant flow at all rpms. One huge advantage I can see is at the races, after the car is shut off, I can keep the pump running to cool the motor! Please let me know if anyone is interested, checl out the pics on page 3 of my site http://members.cardomain.com/7heaven
