working on my seats

Hi today I had nothing to do and I got all my seats back because I lent them to a friend. So today I was taking off the rails so I can see what ones are good and what ones are bad. Well I have one seat left to take off the rails and I dont feel like geting it off a shelf. Ok so I went to take them off in my basement because it was cold out side. All of the seat rails are rusted but not really bad they can be restored. Well only one cant be restored I will get pics tomarrow after school. So I took them to my dad to show him and said to use a grinder. Ok so I went out and used the grinder to take off the rust. Here are the pics of it after I grinded the rust.

Front

Back

Inside one(I did not grind the inside because we are going to sand blast them)

Some close ups on my grinding work

Here are the seats I am going to use I am saving to get them repostered

Here is the bottom of them

Here is one of my old seats that came out of my car

Well there is a update of my car. This sat or sun Me and my Dad are going to sand blast the rails and repaint them black i think with rust paint. I will update soon and I will have pics. Oh this friday I am going to a costom car show so I am happy.(I just had to add that)

If anyone has seats that been repostered plz send pics.

I sandblast the seat rails when restoring them. I'll give you a big hint, remove all of the grease/lube from the rails before you blast. All the grease does is cature the sand and jamb the rails, made that mistake more than once, lol. Relube after paint has had time to cure out.

Use a heat gun, (very carefully) or hair dryer to soften the caulk holding the lenses on the light body.

Not and still get them back together. Get a couple of cans of brake cleaner to remover any grease left.

Be careful taking the taillights apart, the lenses crack real easy. Do a search, theres some info on here from a few years back. Check I0tus name. He did a nice writeup here and also on his carbdomain site.

Eccentric bolts? Not something Ive ever heard of. Also doesnt sound like good engineering to me. Not a good solution if you ask me.

Interesting but then you could only go smaller with the bolt pattern, and they better be hubcentric wheels or it'll roll like a clown car. I dont like what I see. Not safe or reasonable.
