Fluctuating Oil Pressure

Recently, my oil pressure has been fluctuating during normal driving. I thought it might be the connector so I spliced in another connector from a spare wiring harness I had. Still, I'm having the problem. Once I start the car, everything is fine, but a while down the road, on occasion, the oil pressure will swing down to minimum and then back up again. My oil temp (autmeter gauge) looks fine and I feel nothing with the car. Could there be a grounding issue with the sensor or do these sensors have a habit of going bad? Any ideas of what to try next? Should I stop driving it for now? I'm going to get an autometer oil pressure gauge, but I wanted to wait on it a little while.

Thanks...

try cleaning the contacts for the stock oil pressure gauge(that one black wire) along with the contacts on the sending unit, dirty contacts are a common reason for most oil press. gauge problems.... if that doesnt work then it's possibly the sending unit itself

The sending units are not known to be highly reliable. They can have varying readings. Ya gotta remember, this unit is generally over 20 years old.

Naturally you don't mean there is a pressure reading fluctuation when there's an engine RPM fluctuation right? You mean it fluctuates while keeping the same rpm?

Yes, It fluctuates while the engine is at constant rpm. During constant speed highway driving.
