Woohoo, found more crap to remove!!

Well, I decided to move the battery to the storage bin behind the passenger seat to get more weight to the rear of the car and clean up the engine bay, so I'm ripping out the rear storage bins, and AGGHHHH!!! SOUND DEADENING MATERIAL!!! This, of course, HAS to go. Ripped out a good 5-10lbs of sound deadening material, the heavy rubber stuff, then removed about 5lbs of rust chunks, then low and behold, theres some stereo equiptment bolted inside the storage bin compartment!!! amps or something!!! Ripped those two out, there goes another 5-10lbs!! woohoo!! Now I just gotta get some $5 rectangular headlights and a couple pieces of plexiglass, grab some sheet aluminum, and rip out the stock pop-up lights, and make my own flush mount setup, hack out another 20lbs from the very front of the car, and she'll be kickin some butt Maybe then I'll find someone with a pipe bender, borrow my friend's welder, and make custom headers Then i could kill the air pump and thermal reactor too!! woohoo! Ripping useless parts out of the car is fun This is all in a quest to get into the 14s without buying any performance parts, lol 15.8 and counting!!

did you actaully weigh that stuff? I had those two amps out last weekend fixing some rust and a doubt both of them together weigh more than a couple pounds. Same for the sound deadening.
I stripped every bit of the stuck on stuff from a car, filled a fairly decent sized trash bag, even vacuumed the little bits and dumped that into the bad and total for the whole car was just inder 13#.

no, i didnt weigh it, and I probobly was exaggerating, but I get all excited when I find stuff to remove Speaking of which, I just pulled out another speaker, now I only have one left, the drivers side front, which is a pain in the *** to get at so I might just leave it there. (radio and tape player died, so i figured I'd just rip the whole thing out)

I should probobly find a place to weigh this thing, its gotta be pretty damn light by now, I've pulled a ton of stuff off. Maybe I'll stop by the junkyard one of these days.

If you have a gravel pit nearby they have scales and might be willing to let you drive on. Any place that sells truck loads of whatnot by the pound will have a scale. Truckstops sometimes have them too.

If I was trying for a lightweight car, I think I would go crazy and have EVERYTHING that was able to be ripped out, out in a day.

I am guessing since you dont have or care about the stereo, this probably isn't a daily driver. Why not just take out the passenger seat? (provided you still have one)

already there! lol

its easy to replace. Also today I just went down and had the sheet metal fabricators make me up a dash... not in aluminum yet though. I had him use steel cause' its' cheaper, and I can use the steel for a fiber/carbon mold it it seems to work out.

I guess I'll find out tommorw.
