LA Won't Start Please Help

Im in need of some help. I have a 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL 1.1L. It cranks but won't start. No check engine light is on. I really need to know everything that could be wrong so I can eliminate anything thats not the problem. So far all I did was test if i was getting fuel and checked for a spark. Both were positive.

1. Your never going to see a check engine light, YOU are the check engine light

2. Did the car start before? How long ago did it run? How long?

3. Compression test it

We need more info:

1. How long since it last ran?
2. Is the gas fresh?
3. Is your battery fully charged?

Give us some more background and we can probably point you in the right direction. So far theres a number of issues it could be but its all guessing at this point.

To dhssoccer24,

I see this is your first post here. I'm relatively new here myself.
Don't give up on this place.
The membership is an incredible wealth of specific information.
With their help I was able to to do a complete rebuild of my 12a, and solve many other problems. Most of which I did not know could lead to something more serious.

Your 84 is 30 years old.

Is it stock?
Is the emissions controls still intact or have things been removed?
Details of what you are working with will narrow the possible causes.

Umm how do know its the apex seals? Did you visually see them by looking through a port or
something? Or is this just based on a compression result?

I saw them. 4 of the 6 were bad. Silencer in exhaust got congested which caused the car to backfire and it warped the housing causing the seals to also go bad.

Never heard of a NA 12A being harmed by detonation or backfire. I find this hard to believe honestly.

I've heard of the exhaust getting to hot and warping seals.

The part I don't understand is the warped housings. If this was the case I would expect an oil or water leak somewhere.
