Wishy washy water sound?
Ok, so every time it rains pretty hard I get a slosh sound from the rear. I checked all the drains, and there is no clog, they all drain freely. I check the spare tire well and it is dry as a bone. It sounds like I got a bucket of water in my back seat that sloshes around any turn.
Any ideas? The whole interior is dry...

One thing though, my doors seem to have no rear drain, only front. so after a good rain, I open the doors and let them drain. I thought that would be it, but when I open and close the door, there is no slosh sound. Only from the rear.

Ok, here is the video. It is night time here, so you wont see much. Pretty much all I do is put the camera in the hatch area, and I rock the car. I stop rocking at :11, and you can hear it between :12 to :15

I can't remember if the rx has drain slots in the metal for the frame rails and rear fender area. I had a sloshing sound in my miata and to fix it I had to take a flathead screwdriver to unplug the drain slots crimped into the metal seams.
idk if this will help you at all, or maybe lead on to something, but when it rains, the floorboard behind the passenger's seat in my car gets wet, one time it had a small pool lol. don't know where it comes from, everywhere else nearby is dry, no trace of water except right there. up against the compartment box wall. so idk, maybe your wells are full of water?...

The whole interior is dry.

reach around the side rear trim panels and get your hand into the inside of the rear lower fenders. Might have to remove the hatch side covers to do this.
OR
Both these rear lower fenders have a rubber bung drain plug on the INSIDE of each fender - might have to lay on your back to see them - pull these and see if you get anything out. While on the passenger side, make sure the antenna drain hose is also poking out near the main drain - if you don't see that then the antenna is draining into that fender...not good

Stu its probably in the rear fenders behind the wheels. Its a notorious spot for water to collect at. Thats why I have a rust spot on that one side. In fact my antenna drain hose drained into there from the factory. So like the other Stu said check that out.

Ding ding ding! I pulled the plug for the drivers side and about a gallon of water came pouring out! The passenger side had nothing in it, I pulled the plug in case.
Now that I havwe that cleared up, I take it one of the drain tubes are cracked?
Hopefully you weren't staring right at that plug when you pulled it (I got a nice shot of old water right in my face). Don't forget to let all the water dry before you put the plug back in (may be spray some WD-40 or rust paint).

I did the passenger side first, no water, so I assumed the same for the drivers side.
Reach down in there and make sure the end of the drain tube is in it's hole and empties outside the car.

That's pretty cool Stu. Can either of you Stu's post a picture of just where that drain plug is located? I don't think I've ever seen it before. It's a probably a good idea to pop that thing once in awhile just as a precaution. While you are not looking at it, of course.
Thanks for the info!
