Question Which wing do you thinks looks best on 1st gen?

Hi again, finally got the money and was wondering everyone's idea of a good spoiler, I have reduced it down to these 4:

super style wing

racing wing

gtr style (or any other 3 piece) or

shogun style

im leaning toward supra style, but I want everyone take on it

Thanks

don't care for the supra style. deck wings look good. 3-piece. there is a low style fiberglass touring wing that looks great but i can't remember which 1st gens i've seen it on.

Yeah we need pics. I am sure I have seen all those styles, but I am not sure what each is called.

The Supra wing is the F-40 knockoff that stands two feet off of the deck and is rounded everywhere on its surfaces. Kinda like the metallic maroon 300ZX wannabe you see pop up in the lounge from time to time. The Shogun wing is that horrendous nonsense you see on an overkill ricer that has two elements, sags in the middle with clunky cover plates on the pedestals which are on the ends of the "airfoil" elements. The 3-piece wing is the kind you see on 4thgen GM F-bodies where the middle section of the wing is part of the hatch and goes up with the hatch when it's opened. I, too, have never seen a wing big enough in width to justify sectioning that didn't look like hell. The racing wing is the style seen on Saint's car and others with mid-mounted pedestals that try to mimic current actual GT racers like in the ALMS or BTTC. I don't have pictures for all of these categories 'cuz I'm at work, but that should help the people visualize the choices...

And the F-40 wing (from Ferrari) is a knock-off from the Mopar contingency who did it first in '68...

I can't say I like any of the choices given... the only one I sorta like is the low whaletail spoiler sold by Mazdatrix (and I think RB).

Woh... this thread kinda outlines the reasons I dont post much in the 1st gen forum anymore. Rice has invaded 1st gen RX-7's .

Supra style spoiler on a 1st gen? ewhh.. I feel sick .

I vote for NO WING/SPOILER... oh oops, there's nowhere to even vote for that...

To each his own. I do have to have to say I prefer no wing on a 1st at all. One of the first mods people do to make their rotary is open the exhaust system to breath better. In the process you can now here your car a mile away. So. are open exhausts rice? That's no reason to condemn the rest of the first gens owners just because their choice of looks and sounds for their car are different.

Huh? That's a pretty stupid comparison lol. You buy headers etc because you want more power... the sound they emit is a bonus. What are big ugly wings good at? Slowing you down and adding weight?

i definatly agree with you on the overly large wings.. but a small wing/spoiler can actually help our car. at high speeds, you need something to promote down force, and sometimes opening the sunroof is just not enough.

my fiberglass SPOILER, NOT A WING BY GOD, is the 3piece kind i think fits the car nicely. functional and low profile. and i like the looks better then a plain teeny 1st gen ***. seems to give the car some character without standing out and smacking anyone or being ridiculous like a quadruple decker ricer wing.

picks of my 3-piece at http://webpages.charter.net/patryn/79rx7.htm

I agree with what was stated before, to each is his own. I myself have had several set-ups on mine. I currently have a Supra style and frankly, I like the way it looks.

I like Mariahs aero wing they sell. Though pictured on a few FBs, it seems they market them for FCs though. Looks nice in my opinion.

The Yellow 3 peice you have shown is known as the Group 'C' rear wing and are actualy one peiece as far as I have seen in the past. These were used on the Touring cars used in OZ. isn't that car the HitMans??

I don't like the Supra style so much, although that is a very nice Sev, seen pics somewhere b4.

That racing style looks alright, don't know about the show gun style.

Here is a pic of our rear wing.
(ducks and hides from abuse). I like it, its different anyway. and it bloody works too, probably too well.
Oh, and from the front it doesn't look as high as it does from the rear, luckily.
