Windshield replacement ?
I am going to have my windshield replaced under my glass policy. I know whichever company I have replace it, is probably going to destroy the aged and brittle trim clips holding the metal trim work on.
The question I have is when a new windshield is installed. Companies Ive asked said they would replace the metal trim and clips surounding the windshield when they replaced windshield.
Has anyone had their windshield replaced where they did this as a regular service, or do they usually just replace the trim clips and reuse the old surround.

Not sure if they replaced everything, but SafeLite did a clean install. They also guarantee it 100% so if any problem--i mean the ever so slight problem--pops up, I'll go in and get it fixed.
biffle--what is the elastic surround? (i don't know much about replacing winshields)

I dont really care about the replacement cost as my glass coverage is said to cover it. But when they say they will replace the trim do they.
My trim is showing its sign of age with pits, dings and the usual paint flecks.
The parts cost on the windhield and trim is around $700.00.

700 bucks seems a little much to me!

I can see $700 if they are using Mazda factory glass.
I receantly was quoted $650 for mazda glass, and $125 for aftermarket glass.
Pretty rediclous if you ask me.
