Windshield interchange for 1st gen?

Finally decided to get my `85 GS back on the road. Someone threw a 12" subwoofer through the windshield last year (I gotta give them credit for originality I guess). Anyways, I stumbled across a `79 at a junkyard and snagged the windshield. Now that I have it, I did a cross reference and they say `79-83 uses one windshield and `84-85 uses another. After comparing the 2, it looks as though the only difference is that my `85 has a black border on the glass and the `79 does not. Is that the only difference? If it is, then I'm cool. But I don't want to pull the shield out to find the `79 unit don't fit. Anyone know for sure if they will interchange? Thanks.

Man I gotta think they are the same ?! I know the "clip kit" that holds the trim/surround is different. A glass shop will be able to tell you, since they have all the catalogues-

Well, Im wondering what harm it would do to pull whats left of the windshield out of your 85 to just try and test fit it if its broken already? I would think theyre the same shape also, but I dont know for sure. I think you may be right about the border and thats about it. I agree with calling a windshield place and finding out. Or maybe even Mazda would know.
