Alternator burning up

Since Ive got my carb. pretty much straightend out, thanks to Rob of Rotary Shack (God of weber aspirated rotarys) I have other things to adress; i have burnt up one alternator where the black cord goes to it, im guessing this is the ground, and that im not grounding the wires somewhere, but what are common places for this, like the one on the engine harness? I havent really checked this yet,(I dont drive my car right now, its gone 200 miles since i got it) but Im just wondering if anyone else has had this problem>
Ok i searched while writing this (after my last responce i felt i should) found someone with this problem https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...lternator+burn and everyone told him its grounding problem, and someone said something about it being the actual wire itself, I think this is my problem. Since i have my weber and do not need most of the wire on the engine harness, I was wondering if anyone has made a new harness, and what exactly is involved (wiring sacres me)
any input will be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,

Dustin
