I haven't gotten mine done yet, but I'm going to take it to my local Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) place, and they want 260 (that includes tax and such).

That includes a replacement windshield? Is it new or used? Are they replacing the gasket?

New windshield; don't know for sure on the gasket, but I'm leaning towards not replacing it.

If you are going to replace your windshield........Tint it before you put it back on....I got it tinted with Llumar
PT50 and a custom sunstrip PT05............
Gets rid of the glare at night..........
I paid 320.00 for all including installation.....I asked if they were going be careful and not ruin my trim.......But they did not.........great job..........The company is called California Window Tinting Specialist 1-800-788-TINT
So drive on out of the snow from N/A..Its worth it...

I don't believe the RX7s use a windshield gasket, they're glued-in if I remember correctly. There is a "dam" that glues on to the window to corral the sealant, though. "Hyaaah! get in there, sealant!"

Is that a dam or a dum?

I'm serious. There is a part on the windshield called a "dum" not dumb. Is that what you're talking about?

Nope. Never heard of a "dum", unless that's what they call the little rubber spacers that support the bottom of the windshield. Where are you seeing a part called a "dum"? I suspect it's a typo. -WG

Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to get an estimate from them. $167 included the windshield? That's amazing! And no leaks, eh?

Put glass coverage on your insurance and then go have it done for free. Comprehensive plus full glass costs me about $60 a year. (I don't carry it for the glass, I carry it for the deer. Over the years I've done ~$6,000 worth of damage with deer, though not to my 7.)

Haha. Yeah right....I'll call up the insurance company, put glass insurance on the car and then say, "Do you think I could get the windshield replaced too?"

Well obviously you would have to wait a bit If you put it on all of your cars it won't look as suspicious; that's assuming you have more than one...

Is the windshield chipped, cracked, or smashed right in?
