Will a rotary run on E85? Yes. Will any of them do it on the stock ecu/carb with no mods? No. It's possible but will require retuning. Don't expect to just pour it in and drive off. That won't happen.

A rotary will run on practially anything with the carb tuned correctly for that particular fuel. It's pretty amazing

You need about 20% more fuel at idle and cruise. And 40% more at wot. So if you bought an intake and 500cfm carb went 40% larger than stock jet size secondaries and went about 20% larger on the primaries you would be golden. With that said I have no idea what those jet sizes are I neer looked that far into it.

Gas would be cheaper per gallon, but fuel mileage would decrese. So you wouldn't really save any money on MPG. Although you could crank the hell out of the timing and definatly gain more power. I had thought about it, then decided on a 302 swap instead.

Let us know if you do it!

What about with a Mikuni, would the performance gains be worthwhile? What numbers would you estimate?

I have run blends of E-85 and gasoline to make a mix of ~E-40, that is about as far as you can go before it won't be drivable- and not very good at that level without richer jets, larger accerator volume squrt.

Wouldn't guess to much power could be made from timing changes... with the new larger carb and intake maybe 10-15 whp? If that. The real gains of e85 are only seen under boosted engine applications. Where the high octane and low detoantion properties take effect. NA alcohol is a waste of time IMO.

Yes it will run on it, yes you will get less power and worse gas mileage. unfortuneatly e85 doesn't pack nearly as much power as gas in the same amounts.
