Will a 81 to 83 dash go into a 79?
They appear similiar at first glance, but need to replace mine and want to know the options if I find a clean one at one of the yards.

The wiring is largely different.
The console surrounds are completely different. I am not sure if the radio and HVAC controls go in the same way, because they are way different too.
I'm looking to undergo a more radical swap - '79 dash into '85 - but it will be *everything* including the proper transmission and relocating the shifter hole.

If you have absolutely everything, and I mean "everything", then yes, it will swap in. The firewall and bolt mounts are the same from what I can see, but cosmetically, they're very different. Your biggest problem is the location of the shifter and the wiring.
