why do gsl-se's weight more?

ok just about everything i read about curb weights of 1st gen rx7's says that gsl-se's weigh about 300lbs more than the other rx7's. where is all this weight coming from? is all the extra weight from the 13b and its components? thanks in advance.

fuel injection system and that whole 6 port actuation system, sunroof, leather, PS, A/C, bigger brakes, bigger engine, rear wiper, etc etc etc..

I'm sure if you add up all the little things it's there..

basicly all the weight came because of the FI sistem, more wiring harness that the 12a, and the 13b engine. plus little stuff like bigger brakes and PS if you have it and 14" wheels

according to the UK brochure the 1984-85 RX7 is 2392lb's

a UK spec 84/85 RX7 is basically a GLS-SE with a 12a engine, no LSD and all the extra's as standard + rear seats + a non catalyitic exhaust system ( no emmissions regs on rotarys till '87 )

according to here http://www.rhinoracing.com/stock.htm

the GSL-SE has a stock kerb weight of 2590lb's

I doubt the rear seats weigh much if anything over storage bins and metal reinforcing so I guess that means a 13b with fuel injection weights about 198lb's more than a 12a with carb ??

Beefier rear end, bigger brakes, stock GSL-SE wheels are much heavier (larger tires), 13B and its associated hardware, etc...

2 pounds here, 10 pounds there, 1 pound here, you get the idea.

Just weigh less than the other drivers and you'll be equal!

AFAIK they are stronger, to handle the greater torque and HP of the 13B
