Question Seat Possibilities in FB?

I'm in the market for new seats for my 85 GSL, & I'm curious as to which seats, other than 7's, would be a good fit. Maybe I'll look for the examples you guys give & compare them w/ the FC's I'm looking to pick up. Also, pls. detail the difficulties encountered in fitting these seats in your FB, if you've done that.

Yeah, I scored a set of cloth FC seats for $40 CDN and they went in with a minimum of fuss. Just swap the right hand side rail from the driver's seat and they bolt right in. Those bolsters are great, they're comfortable and they hold you tight when cornering.

FD seats are supposed to bolt in after you swap the rails, but I've never tried it. It's easier to score FC seats, and they're less work to install, so I'd stick to those. The TII seats are the best, but any 2nd Gen seat will be an improvement.

I was at the junk yard the other day and I saw one of my other dream cars (2nd gen 300ZX turbo). I looked in and I couldnt belive what the seats in those bitches looked like. I sat in there and went to heaven. Theyre the most comfortable seats Ive ever sat in, I swear it. Even my cousins FD seats dont compare to this. Anyone who has sat in one of these cars knows what I mean. I almost poped down the cash to buy it that day ($21.50 at the yard), but it was the passenger seat and I didnt know how well it might fit, plus it was red leather (eew). Ever since then though, I have determined that I WILL buy some 300ZX turbo seats and have them in my car someday...

Thanks for the input. I was thinking of fitting some '92 prelude seats in there, but now I think I'll stick w/ the ones I got from a GXL. Besides, it's really hard to find cloth seats in that oh-so-cheesy burgundy...

There was one on ebay a while back, but it has long since sold.

the miata seats will not fit on the rhs of the car due to the exhaust bulge in the floor ... what a PITA that is !

1992 Prelude seats wont fit on the right hand side either because of the bugle in the floor. You can build a bracket to raise the back right corner and level out, but then the Pass sits higher than the driver by like a half an inch. Not that noticeable though.

even a good pair of seats out of like a 84-85 300zx turbo would be nice. i had one and those were amazing seats in there they were leather. But i dont know how you would hook the switchs up to put air in the side of the seats to hold you better. Also one kool thing that was in my 300zx was it had a GForce meter!

I've got TII seats in my 82. I just swaped the rails and bolted them in. They have ALOT of side support and they are at the same height (or maybe even a bit lower) than the originals. TII seats alos look REALLY cool. The only drawback is that they don't have any lumbar or bolster adjustability. It works great for me but some people may not like it.

wait a minute... those are TII seats?

I have a pair that matches those identically... Is it possible that my in-laws pulled those out of a TII? Jeez, and I thought the junkyards in Melbourne all sucked!

I have 1999 Miata seats in my fb. The outside rail on both passenger and drivers work. The drivers side inside rail - I bolted to the floor board with a stack of washers to level the rear, and drilled a hole through the front channel. The passenger side inside I just bolted straight to the floor and used the holes where the rail bolted to the seat. So the passenger seat is mounted in the full backward position.

I picked up a bunch of headroom, which was why I did the swap.
