I can't really relate. I bought my first RX7 in 1980 when it was brand new. I will be driving it to work tomorrow after I fix the vacuum leak.
I have bought six RX's, and only sold one.

beause sometimes when you own a car, the little things that are wrong with it get to you. you start to look at these little things as big problems that won't go away. then you see other cars without these little problems and wish "if only i didn't have these problems"....you get so used to your car, and when you see other cars you get excited because they're new to you. then you start thinking that you might as well sell your car since you don't want to deal with its problems anymore...

then when its gone, you start to realise that when you owned the car, you overlooked all the reasons you got it in the first place. because rx7's are the best damn cars out there.

don't worry, you'll buy another one. just don't let that one go

I'm planning on buying another one, my dad browses these forums! HEY DAD! He's got an RX7 too, so I still get to drive one every once in a while, but he's going through alternator belts like they are going out of style, the water pump pulley doesnt line up with the others for some reason.

cause you can't hang.

but you have to see this as a double edge sword lesson. your perspective gets broader now that you're out of the rx7 game for awhile. you'll learn just as much as you did when you had your rx7; so overall don't feel so bad. just another life's learned/learning lessons.

I wouldn't worry if I were you, you will have another, if not more. I'm on my fourth, years apart between. Each one one seems to be enjoyed more.
Although, it would be awsome to have a 79 bought new.

Waterpump pulley misalignment,
I "think" theres 2 thin washers/spacers behind 2 of the bolts/studs holding the waterpump and houseing to the engine, "may" cause this problem if missing.
Also the 1st and 2nd gen pumps and pullies are different, it could be modded wrong.

Good luck on your quest.

Sadly it is, I'm starting to save up now, at $200 (Profit) every two weeks I ought to be there soon!

He went ahead and got another waterpump from the Advance Auto and it seems to fit a lot better from the side, we haven't put it on yet...
