I would like to know what your guys opinion between this two cars performance. Who would win on a Down hill race, Drag Race and a Course Race with massive curves?

Depends. What options on the 86? What model FB? SE? Non? Stock? Ported? What?

It would also have to depend on wether or not it was my 7. If it was, the 86 for sure. If not, who knows.

My seven would win, though. SP with a barebones carb. . . . someday I'll get my Racing beat back from my Uncle. . . .

Now HIS car. . . . RE86, would tear me to little tiny bits and pieces./

its all depends how much cash you put into the cars. If you keep to maker engines.. 1st gen 20b Vs. the supra engine.. humm who knows, then it all comes down to the tires. who will stick.

a 12a style 1st gen has a less powerful motor. i'd give the drag to the corolla. curves? 1st gen. unless you upgrade the suspension on the corolla, they're kind of wimpy.

In drag racing it'd be even, in curves, the FB, AE86s handle like trash.

lol. that's one way to put it!

a friend of mine got a corolla GTS, yammerin' on about how awesome it handles. i drove it. it was really bad. even with all the knocks and rattles under my 84SE, she could hold a corner way better than the corolla. talk about body roll.

the seating position in the corolla wasn't too hot either. all upright like an econobox.

The 7 all the way. This was years ago but my friend had AE86 with full exh, intake a squeeze and it still felt slow as a passanger. We ran it against my 82 with 13B, Mikuni and Exh. It wasn't even close. I prolly had 5 car lengths by the 1/8th mile.

But I wouldn't mind having one. I like the way they look with old school wheels.

those old corollas are pretty fun if you throw some moneys at them but they're just a commuter with a revvy engine in stock form. i wouldn't mind one to beat on, myself. add some suspension improvements and it'd be almost as fun as a 12a rx7 with better fuel economy.

hmm... i wonder if the poll results are indicative of any sort of bias.. let's post this on a 4AG forum and see what happens

lol @ referencing a cartoon. have you driven one? stock? they're nimble, i'll give them that. but my bone stock 105hp '98 civic is nimble.

i took one around a cone course, and it took forever to transfer weight from one side to the other. lots of body roll. coasting around a corner, it had moderate understeer, too. whereas if i coast around a corner in my FB, it ends up pretty neutral.

Yes , I have driven one and I know it needs a great upgrade in suspension but they are nice cars.

I will get one for me next year...

Yes, the AE86 handling is so awesome that it outhandles an FD, R32 Skyline, and a Lancer Evolution. Awesome!

the trick is to hook your wheels on the inside of the turn.
