Who Has 2nd Gen Seats In Their Car?

I was thinking that since I kinda want some different seats in my car, I could use some third gen seats cause they are so damn comfortable, but im not sure Im up to the fab work. So then I remember reading that the second gens are bolt in (is this true?), and I thought, wow, this could be easy. So then I went on the hunt for some used second gen seats, and realized that I can solve two problems at once...I have no rear speakers in my car cause my subs would just drown them out anyway, so I was thinking that I could get some seats from a vert and use those cause they have speakers in the head rests. So I solve two problems at once, I get new seats, and I get rear speakers .

Basically, the point of this post, do the second gen seats bolt in (no mods), and are the speakers replaceable/any good?

The Second Gen seats fit fine as long as you put the 1st Gen Seat Rails on. The Passenger seat bolts in fine, the Driver seat (*I believe*) will only bolt in 3 out 4 without any problem.

The Second Gen Vert speakers are okay, although they are designed for open air 'Verts. Most vert owners usually just get better speakers all around and disregard the headrest speakers.

Ask Mike-P-28 about this. He is a professional installer, and owns a 'Vert - so he should be able to point you in the right direction.

ON ANOTHER NOTE:

I don't know if they fit or not, but the Miata seats are VERY similar to the third Gens, AND they have headrest speakers in them as well. I wonder if they would be a bolt-in. - Things that make you go Hmmmm...

2 ed gen seats and rails bolt right in,,no mods,, I know
this because i have done it,,both seats 4 bolts apiece.
2ed gen seats are taller(thicker) on the bottom. Look around for -SE seats 1st and 2ed gens, they tilt, and have lumbar support.

I have my old second gen seats in mine. They fit really nicely and bolt right in. I don't remember encountering any problems. In fact, I think I used the 2nd gen rails too, but I can't remember exactly. All I know is they're in there now and whatever didn't quite reach I made reach.

You should try to find some with good side support, like from the TIIs or the Sports. There's probably more that have the good seats, but I don't know which ones.

Anybody have any experience with Miata seats? It's going to be way easier to find a Miata at the u-pull than a 3rd gen.

turbo 2 seats are the best, they have very big sides to hold you in the seat when you are cornering.

btw...i have gray 88 turbo 2 seats that I am going to be putting on eBay very soon, any one interested in them?

Yeah, thats kinda where I got the idea for the headrest speakers as well...My friend has a 1993 Miata, maybe I should hit him up and see if he would let me take his car apart to see if his seats fit my car . If they do, that would be cool, cause I really like the seats in his car, I just dont like the power (or lack there of) that the car has .
