Seriously, I may be new to the forum, and rotary engines/RX7's, but I have been around custom/modded cars for longer than some of the members here have been alive. Quick study too, had to be. Bought a car with issues, that scared off a lot of "sposedly" rotorheads, and wannabe's. Thanks to the info I found here, I got it cured fast.
Did you know that a rotary will smoke for a while, after sitting for almost a year? No one else that looked at the car before me seemed to know it. The guy I bought it from learned that from me, cause I let it run for about an hour, and it totally cleared up. AFTER I paid for it, of course. Thats how I picked it up so cheap.
LOL see even TJ still hangs here. You keepin lucky?

My school is finished. Yes, I officially have a College degree in Computer Science.
The car is running, 8,000km since April, driving beautifully. Needs more power.. rebuilt engine, SP, RB exhaust... The Sterling/Bananna Carb just sits there yawning most of the time going "when am I going to get to feed some bigger ports with flowing exhaust? I'm bored of this stockport BS!"
And finally, I have highspeed internet again. So yes, I was a little absent for a while, but I'm back! You have no idea how hard it is to moderate on a 56k connection! Just popping up the "what do you wanna do with this thread?" menu takes five minutes... then try deleting a dozen posts to clean up a flame war, or *some* members being idiots, and you're there for hours on a handful of threads!
I agree that the threads lately have been a little... crappy. I think when I get a bit of time I'm going to go on an Archive/FAQ update blitz to try and spruce things up a bit. Maybe I'll even get some pics of my project and Eric's project cars, to start some thread discussion on restorations.
We'll see. For now I'm settling into my new job and trying to enjoy the summer months. Schemes and Dreams of next year's engine rebuild are already brewing... don't expect anything crazy or australian like a 20b J-port Daily Driver.... I'm not that crazy.. but it should still be fun.
Glad we still have alot of good folks around, despite the lack of posting. TJ, you've been here long enough, and you've stuck around despite what happened to your 7 so it's all good....
and Bob, it was nice of you to drop by
To all the folks who keep this forum going by offering advice and guidance, I've gotta say Thanks. I don't know where the first gen section would be without you guys.
Now I saw this awesome large carbon fibre wing the other day, with neons under it and I was thinking.....
..... That I'm gonna need a bigger sledge hammer!

If there's gonna be a grumpy old men forum, I'm in.
Dennis: If you're all done working for awhile, send Carl some venturies. And what ever happened to all that Sterling Charger stuff? Get back to work.
Carl: A stock manifold turns better than 9k before the power starts to level out. I'm not sure much grinding needs to be done....
PeeJay: You'll end up winding the shotgun port out higher than you want to, but it's getting my vote for best homebrew of the year.
Mel: Any luck with a sidedraft manifold?

DynoDave found us. Sorry bro, most of the LA boys junked their sidedraft manifolds and went with IDA but Im still keeping an eye for ya. And yes, thanks for reminder. I need to get my one-piece manifold back from 1984SE. Got to call him now. I will let ya know since I decided to use an old cartech IDF for my blow-thru, instead of holley or sidedraft.

Its not about grinding out , its about optimizing the shapes which Mazda seemed unconcerned with. Port shapes, plenum shape/size, runner shape/size/transitions.
It would be easier to mfg new manifolds if I had the capability to have them made.
