Where to get rubber seal around taillights?

I’m preparing to paint my car and I want to replace this rubber strip between the body and lights. It’s falling apart and missing pieces already. Is it available or anywhere or is there a substitute?

If you mean the gasket seal for the light assemblies and the body of the car? According to Mazdatrix(.com) these are NLA from Mazda, tho may be worth an Ask at your local dealer?

The FB seal looks to be just a straight run of sealing rubber, so maybe it would be easy to mock up some with generic rubber seal material, which is readily available. Just have a sample piece for correct thickness and shape...

I figured I might have to make my own, so I was wondering if anyone had successfully done it before. I’ll try to dig up the part number and call Mazda too but I won’t hold my breath

I know Atkins has them for the SA, but I'm not sure if you can use those on yours or not.

If you are talking about the gasket, yes the part is NLA and has been for many years, but you can easily make one as it is just simple foam rubber.

Measure the thickness, buy a sheet of adhesive-backed closed cell foam insulation (available widely as it is used in many applications), use existing gasket as a template and cut a new one with a very sharp knife. You could also buy a length from a roll, then bend to shape. I think EPDM sponge seal would be a suitable material for it. This is from a popular Australian supplier, but you'd be able to get it locally for sure: https://www.clarkrubber.com.au/rubbe...s/sponge-seals

If you google "DIY closed cell foam tail light gasket" you will come up with many tutorials.

And this is what I mean by EDPM sponge rubber sheet: EPDM Sponge Rubber Sheet - Premium - Reglin Rubber - Australia

You could just get the desired thickness then cut out a few gaskets to shape.
