where is the dowel pin leak?

where is the dowel pin leak?

where is the dowel pin oil leak that i have read about? is it out of the front cover around the main pulley? can this occur from imprpoper torqing of the main pully bolts?

The oil going to the front rotor housing goes through the upper dowel pins, which are located in the protruding area on the top of the engine, where "MAZDA" is stamped into the rotor housings. There are O-rings that seal this passage between each housing, and if you have the beehive (water/oil) oil cooler, the oil tends to run hot and these O-rings turn into hard plastic and crack and cause oil to leak out on top of the engine. Only solution for a leaking engine is to disassemble it and replace the O-rings, along with the coolant seals and gaskets (because the engine's cracked open).

i replaced the 2 oil o-rings on top of the tower they were hard like plastic so i dont have a leak from those therre is something about 4 o-rings for the late model84-85 but i dont know exactly where this leak is. is there a picture or a site soewhere that points this out.

cool there are 2 mazda stampings so where the housing meets the non aluminum portion of the motor i see what looks like tar but only a tiny bit i think i got it thank you
