Yeah really! I know of a junkyard where there are like 3 or 4 of those on the stereo shelves, and they're "only" about $50-60.

And I just pulled mine because my rear amp died, apparently the amps aren't waterproof, and since the factory radio (apparently) has no internal amplification I had to change the whole unit. The headunit is still good, I'll sell it, since I'm a nice guy I'll only ask $250.

BTW - I found the cruise control module! It's on the floor behind the rear amp. It was underwater too... suppose that explains why the cruise suddenly decided to go "Maximum Overdrive"?

HMMMM.

I think the winner messed up his bidding and that's why the price was so yeesh.

The winning bid was placed on the 27th at 09:56.

Looking further down, the highest bid prior to that point was a bid of $40 on the 27th at 05:59.

So my guess is the winner typed in 265 instead of 65. That or he had proxy bidding set up and forgot to set a maximum limit.

At 13:02, a runner up started bidding at $50. A minute later he bid $60. Then $70, $80... going from $10 increments to $25 increments, then finally saying to himself "I won't go over $200 so I'll go $201, in case his proxy bidding has a max of $200". 45 seconds later another guy bids $220! So the first guy goes one final $25 increment, and the new guy just keeps driving up the price.....

Me, I woulda stopped bidding at $50.

"45 seconds later another guy bids $220!"

I'd like to have a talk with this fellow, I have a really nice unit with amps that I bought as a back up for about $50 with shipping. I suppose I could let it go for around $200.

I think the price was really high, but not unusual because these units are desired by folks wanting to keep their cars stock (like me) or others with a GS who want to upgrade to the GSL/GSLSE sound system, which is really nice, after all, even after 20 years. Great sound and not ricey, like all that soundblaster crap you see people "upgrading" to.

And it's not even unusual, a few weeks ago Jimmy offered his unit to the rotor heads on this forum for the usual $40-50. He got no takers so he put it on ebay, where it went for $90. I suppose we'll be seeing a few more come up in the next few weeks.

You know...

I used to say a lot of good things about the factory setup.

I have a worn out crappy cheap-in-1996 Pioneer headunit driving the stock speakers. The difference is like chocolate and ****, to quote someone who I don't want to say I got it from.

The stock crap sucks.

Wow.

I bought mine from a fellow forum member a couple months ago for somewhere around $20 or so. Not exactly "mint" or "factory new", but with about 20 minutes and some cleaning fluid, it looks just shy of brand-new. I was willing to spend a little bit of time and money to get the stock stereo/eq and speakers, but that's just nuts.

The last one of these radios on ebay went for $265 - this one has less than a day to go and the bidding is still at $0.01.

The poor kid took it out of his own car, for goodness sake, someone help him out and place a bid!
