Wheels for my 81

I tried posting on the wheel/brake specific but no reply. So I thought I would post here. I need some help getting rims for my 81. I have looked everywhere and on just about every site that I know. But when I find a rim I realize that it won't fit the bolt pattern on my 81. Anyone with a 79-85 with pics and any info on where they found their rims would be extremely helpful. I want to get this car finished but I need something to help finish it off.

There are a few konig rims that fit but thats about it. Your best bet is to swap over to a GSL-SE suspension setup. Theres endless aftermarket rims for the SE.

The bigger question is what size rim are you looking to get?

Stock wheels are 13" on your car, but Mazda did have a Limited Edition 14" in 1983, although rare not that hard to find. Kind of a BBS style mesh wheel that ran a 195/60/14 tire, so it kept the speedo accurate.

If you want to go 15" ROH Synper are avalible in 4x110mm lug pattern.

if you go to http://www.cpracing.ca or maybe its http://www.atlantarx7.com you can get a conversion from 4 lug to 5 lug for about 350$ I believe. Then you'd have alot of options

What about 17's?

I'd LOVE to see a set of 17" Heliums on both of my cars. And 15" for the autoX

15" for AutoX, yikes in a class where you have to stay with stock gearing, you will find that you want 13"x8" wheels for cone patrol.

17" for the street.....Not me even in California the roads are not that smooth, its tough enough keeping 15" wheels from getting bent. Little alone from chipping your teeth.

my .02¢

Just an update if anyone is interested. Konig cannot make the helium in our bolt pattern. They say there is not enough material on them. Jim is going to do some research to find out what they can make for us. If anyone else is interested let me know.

^ That would have been my suggestion. Having a machine shop re-drill the 4 bolt pattern to 4x4.25 would open up a really good selection of wheels and would be alot cheaper than a conversion.

what's it cost to get the redrilling done? and what about konig rewinds? can we get those in our bolt pattern? and we need a negative not a postive backspacing right? I noticed the koseis had postive offset of 17. wouldn't that pull the wheels up under the car?

I'd seriously suggest you consider changing stud patterns. As I'm running a 13B-T with a T04 Garret and fuel injection, I've opted for an EB Ford Falcon 4-spider LSD in the rear (five stud) and Nissan Skyline R33 Turbo front brakes (same stud pattern). Limitless selection for alloy wheels

I'm currently happy with my current wheels , MSW "mesh" style, 13's. BUT, I want to put some fender flares on , like selctmaz, or cp racing, and I'm thinking I'm going to need something wider to fill out the flares... maybe I should just forget the flares, LOL

arent R33 brakes much like the Z32 300zx turbo brakes?
howd they do your front brake conversion? mill off the outer part of the 4x110 rotor and use it as a mounting surface for the r33 brakes?

The entire mounting point of the bearing needs to be modified, it's extensive work and you can't use any of the original 4x110 rotor. The R33 brakes are the same as the Z32 300ZX cars, only the GTR spec brakes were radically different (factory Brembo 4-pot calipers etc..)

It's not something you should consider unless you're very keen, trust me
