FL Wheels for GSL-SE with respeed coilover kit

need info on wheels known to fit GSL-SE with respeed coilover kit installed

what size/offset?
are you using spacers?
pics would be best if you got 'em
(specific wheels, not just 'hey you need 4.5" backspace')

need some options before i spend a ton of money on enkei 92's, which NEED spacers up front (15x7 +38)

thnaks all!

The fact that it has coilovers should not effect the wheel fitment compared to stock. They will give you slightly more room behind the wheels, so you could run slightly wider or slightly less backspacing, but you could also run stock wheels fine.

with stock struts etc the spring perch is pretty much above the top of the tire
with coilovers fitted there is less clearance because the threaded tube and adjustable spring perch and spring are all larger diameter than the strut tube. (Wheels i had on the car now wont fit after coilovers installed)

many aftermarket wheels just wont fit without spacers/adapters

no thanks on the stock gsl-se wheels (butt ugly)

so...... what do we know for certain fits gsl-se with respeed or ground control coilovers??

Might help to add your budget and diameter/width your looking for to narrow things down. The Rota RB in a 15x7 +20 should it up front and the 15x8 +20 will fit fine in the rear. I needed a 15 mm spacer up front with 15x8 +20 RBs.

I have the RE Speed coilovers on my SE so I can attest to the loss of space as a result of the new perch location. I had to use a small spacer even with the stock SE 14" wheels.

Enkei 92's as mentioned 15 x 7 + 38 up front with a 15mm spacer which makes the offset needed +23 with a 195/50 tire in the front.

15 x 8 +25 with a 205/50 will work on the rear with no spacers but the fenders will need to be rolled if the car is lowered. A +20 offset in the rear with 15 X 8 would stick out past the fender on an SE. It would be fine on a non SE

The Enkei Apache will be offered in the same offsets so that is another choice. You can also choose from more expensive options like Work or SSR etc if you don't want a period correct wheel.

Pics of my car below.

Did you have them on with with RE Speed coilovers in the front?

That offset is not going to rub on anything on the inside rear of the car. The +15 offset is going to push the wheels out 10mm further out than the 15 x 8 +25 I have on my car. If the car is lowered the tires will be rubbing the inside lip of the fender.

Re-Speed coilovers on the front.

No rubbing at all on the rear. It might have rubbed a bit on the front on hard bumps. I didnt put a whole lot of miles on it. They sat very flush with the fenders. Mine fenders were rolled but not stretched.

I was running ISC adjustable perches (same as Re-Speed).

Two other guys have run the same rims and reported no real issues either.

Holy Crap. I had NO idea going to the re-speed coilovers up front might make my wheels not fit. Everything I heard before this thread said they will only give more room for wheels. I'm ready to have my perches welded on front strut tubes, and was going to do the 6" down, but now I'm terrified my wheels won't fit!(15"x7" +20mm offset). My tubes are at the shop waiting to get welded, my wheels are hours away in storage. Can anyone confirm/deny this exact size working with the race coilovers and otherwise stock SE?

I personally am going with the xxr 002 all black set 15x9 rear : 15x 8 fronts with the re-speed coilover kit on front/back and z flares. XXRs aren't the most expensive but they are still pretty sweet. If you could find a set of Weds Mesh...mother of god. They are 1st gen badassness. Twinkletoes on the club has a set on his FB and they look great. There are also deep dish panasport's but your talking some cash for those bad boys. All of which have the offsets available to fit re-speeds coilover kit.

0 offset on your XXR 002's?
should look good with those flares, and plenty of clearance to strut
what size/brand of tires you getting?

I got a set of weds auto bahns on my 85. They are 15x8 +10 all around. Stock front suspension just the RB lowering springs. Front fits just right with a little bit out but with the 195/50/15 it works. The rear i put a 215/50/15 and its perfect. I still got room and could have squeezed a 225 easily with no roll to fenders yet.

On trailer from getting tires done. In this pic the front were 195/55 but those rubbed so they got switched out the 50's and no issues.

test fit pics

I got up to where my car is at, assembled an old rotor to one of my strut tubes, bolted on a wheel, assembled the coilovers, everything looks great, with many millimeters to spare! Car is '84 SE, wheels are SuperAutoStrada Blocco's [15" x 7" +21mm offset] tires are 195/50 all around.

more pics. BTW, what holds the big threaded tube in place on top of the weld-on collar? It just flops around back and forth on there?

I've completely changed my mind on my setup.. I am now following a setup that Team_Giletto has or had. 16x9 ESM wheels +15 offset.. no flares. I just hope i can fit the coilover kit. If not, I am gonna have a **** load of fabricating to do, lol.
