What's your technique?
My 84 gs has a frozen choke cable, the whole mechanism is rusted solid. When i try to start it i have to pump the **** out of it which turns into a flooding problem or i have to prime the carb 2 or 3 time with some fuel. Does anyone else have this problem? What are your techniques? how many cranks and pumps and what are the other special things do you do. Once she fires she runs like a raped date, and a restart or hot start isn't a problem.
hmmm, it may not be a fuel issue. i dont have a choke and i just go out and crank it up... cold or not. when you finally get it fired up... what color smoke is coming out? alot of times when they leak a bit of coolant in the block it fouls the plugs making cold starts very hard.

. When i added the oil i only put in a dab.
whiteish smoke does sound like you may have a minor coolant leak, and since you do let it sit for days at a time it can accumulate enough to make that first initial start very hard. one of my old motors did this. i found that if i atleast warmed it up once a day it was alot easier. so if you aren't going to drive it, just go out and fire it up atleast to clean out the motor.
