What's it worth??
This lady wants to sell me her 82 RX-7 w/ a blown motor (verified by Hayes Rotary) The car has 80k miles and is in very good shape. What should I pay for it? Thanks!

I'd like to pick the thing up and pump some horses into it, maybe a bridge port,,i dunno. Yeah, I know about trusting them. I run a shop so, I will be doing all the work myself. I've been brain storming on what to drop in it. Is a 13b a lot of hack work, or will it slip it w/ minimal problems?? Anyone have some ideas for me? I already have a project car, so this will be a daily driver. Thanks!

No, 13B is easy.. just need to either slot the front mount.. or buy a GSL-SE one.. and a GSL-SE oilpan..
That should be it.. it is pretty easy.. You might need to change flywheels too.. depending on the 13B you use..

While I haven't been on the scene for very long, it seems to me that RX-7's are relatively inexpensive cars to pick up. 80k is awesome for a car that old, but with a blown motor I'd probably only pay $500...and that's assuming the thing is in near mint condition otherwise.

I got my '85 GS which was mint (garage kept) w/ 64k miles for $400. the local mazda dealer said the engine was blown. kinda odd since that engine is still running perfect in my '84 40K miles later.
I got my '84 GSL last year blown engine (for real this time) w/ 86K miles for $200. a NC car. zero rust under it, very very little surface rust on the body, and a few small dings. the interior is sun faded pretty bad though.
1st gens are pretty rare around here. in my experience people are either "it's rare, i want $$$$$" or "nobody knows how to fix these damn things, i just want it out of my yard"
