What's It Worth???

I am a new member of the RX-7 website, and have a few questions regarding the value of a RX-7 that I am looking to purchase.

The details: 1982 RX-7, I am guessing it to be the G model (no designation on the hatchback). 86,000 miles, stock engine and automatic 3-speed transmission. The interior has been gutted, but all of the panels will come with the car. The guy that I am buying it from was going to swap all of the panels with new. He didn't get around to it and just threw everything back inside the car. The interior needs a thorough cleaning. Manual locks and windows, no stereo. The exterior seems to be pretty decent. There are a few rusts spots on top of the car where the windshield trim is.

The car has been setting for a few years as the current owner kind of lost interest in the project.

Thanks,
John

500 tops, you could easily bargain him down... FYI a auto rx7 is pretty dumb considering it makes all its power in the high rpms so that needs to be switched, all the interior needs to be cleaned and rust repaired...

$500 or less if he can start it and you hear it run, Plus drive it around.

Much less if he can not start it.

Low-ball him-start with $250. I love negotiating with ppl who lost interest on a RX-7. Majority of the time, its just take it.

He says that it does run. I am either going to stop by tonight and test drive or sometime this weekend. He also mentioned having a second RX-7 that he was going to swap the transmissions.

Thanks for the quick replies,
John

How difficult is it to swap transmissions, if I would have access to the second car to get the transmission from? I have some experience in wrenching automobiles, but not with foreign cars.
