I have an 84 GSL that is SO close to being up and running, all i really need is a fuel pump. My plan is to buy the following:

1.) MSD Performance fuel pump
2.) Fuel Pressure Regulator
3.) Turbo Setup (not sure of details yet...)
4.) Racing Beat Exhaust
5.) Electric Fan (to clean up the engine)
6.) KICK *** STEREO SYSTEM!

Back from the dead!

Building a half-bridge REW 62-1 powered GSL-SE. Got the full five-bolt conversion and Ford 8.8 rear-end done. Motor comes back from Ludwig Motorsports and goes in this weekend. It'll be a month before it starts...

Working on dash removal (fooking archive is missing pics and I can't find all the bolts) in prep for last carpet removal, small rewire (more like wire organize), and finally, POR15 just to be safe and dynamat. Not sure if I should install my sound system wiring at that time or put it back together.

got my 83 limited 2 years ago.
put a new clutch, master & slave cyclinder, right idle arm, carb rebuilt in one week.
then rear blew up, so got a "new" rear end with lsd and rear discs. man, she stops like a dream on a nice warm day.
body work...let me tell you. ppl sure don't look for little sport cars anymore. hit 3 times in parkin lots. passenger fender ( the guy that hit it, paid to fix it) oh that one happened the day after i bought it. then the last 2 i wasn't that lucky. so i just now got a driver side fender, but need to paint it to match. and the front eye lip btwn the head lights needs popped out and touched up and re painted. other then that. the interior is all minor.

runs great, just need to get it all painted and no dents.

Update since my last post on this thread back in '04:

I'm still driving the **** out of mine.

There is a problem with this "status" post, however. It starts by assuming that almost everyone has an RX-7 that is broken down and being worked on, with 6 categories for cars not running or needing severe repair.

I think what would be more interesting is six categories for daily drivers, say:

1. 0-20 miles per day
2. 20-40 miles per day
3. 40-60 miles per day
4. 60-80 miles per day
5. 80-100 miles per day
6. 100+ miles per day

I'm in category six with my daily driver, and needless to say it's in great shape.

Mine used to be a daily driver, but I've been driving something else for the past two years during the winter months and only driving the 7 during the summer or at Solo II events. After I get finished tinkering with it this time 'round, it should be good to good for the rest of the warm months this year, before going back into hibernation again over the winter.

yes, i can drive it right now. it's been sitting since mid Oct, but not the whole time tho, i'd drive it around the block occasionally. after getting it and swapping my engine to it from the 808, it's been waiting on insurance til now. i'll be driving it starting next week.

My 82 has been mechanically redone - new suspension components (arms, tie rods, shocks, struts, bushings (factory)), engine is rock solid so just cleaned it, the A/C still works (put new expansion valve, rec/dryer), brakes all new calipers, hoses, etc.

Interior - replaced dash due to crack (found a used one and SEM painted it), replaced heater valve that was leaking, put in 120Mph speedo, awaiting authorization for new seat covers from the boss, door panels are off being redone, electric windows were added and work, one mirror has a bad connector so doesnt currently work.

Exterior - Car has not been driven in snow or rain, underneath, when I rebuilt the brakes, had every line just "pop free" from from the slaves, brake lines still have factory green coating! It is awaiting a new paint job as it is quite oxidized.

Had to drive it daily the last 3 weeks as the daily driver due to my real daily driver blowing a head gasket (95 525).

my rx7 is in non running condition, is ready to get the 12a pulled so i can rebuild it with a port job, while the engine is out of it i might do some body work of my own or have someone do it for me. i also have a dismantled 13b, i am having trouble figuring out if i want a 12a or a 13b i might go with the 12a.

Someone start a new copy of this thread. I put my vote in back in '02 and it needs changing... as most of the votes already tallied probably do.
