Question whats with Rotorhead.ca ??

I ordered, and paid for, parts from this site in mid December. I have never received the order and all emails to them are returned to my server. Beyond the obvious "be careful if your shopping there" warning, has anyone heard what happened to this outfit? Site is still on-line, and appears quite happy to take your money electronically...just don't expect anything in return. I have heard that someone under the pseudoname "manntis" was a partner in this site, but attempts to reach him have failed too. If I am wrong about the "Manntis" connection, I apologize to that person. Anyway, watch out folks, before you buy from this site I would urge you to establish a direct contact with the owners AND get a phone number before doing business

I was chased off this forum a few months back by lounge drama. Long story short my political views lead to some nasty PMs, etc.

I am returning now to address this re-opened thread after being informed of its existance, especially as I haven't been able to receive email addressed to rotorhead for a few weeks (ISP issues on top of everything else. It's been a lousy few months since my car accident - last week I somehow managed to snap the crossmember on my winter car, taking the CV joint, right half-shaft, both ball joints, and right wheel bearing with it. Who's ever heard of a crossmember breaking? But I digress.)

The shifter boots are made by Bill Telotte. He sells them on eBay (sometimes for less than Rotorhead.ca, sometimes more; such is the nature of auctions).

The pulleys are made by a member of this board; he usually ships them promptly, though for some reason the few times I've ordered 2 or more at a time they take far longer to be sent out.

In fact the clocks, keychains, and many of the items are provided by members of this forum (Andy Lee, Daniel, Zack, Chris of CP Racing, etc).

While delays are rare they do happen and are often caused by shipping snafus. Rotorhead goods are shipped from Canada, USA, Australia, and Japan to addresses equally diverse yet it seems of the small number that are delayed it's typically components being sent into the US from Canada that most often have delivery problems. For this reason I presume the tighter restrictions since 9/11/01 have caused US Customs to open more packages. Or maybe they don't like small boxes with lots of mysteriously shaped metal in them. Whatever the reason I do endeavour to deal with problems as soon as I'm made aware of them.

The rotorhead email address will, my ISP tells me, be back up and running next week. Anyone still not in receipt of their ordered goods is invited to email me their original order (please include the paypal order number) and I'll put you directly in contact with the supplier. Please do not PM me through this forum as I no longer check PMs here, nor am I even notified of their existance by email.

As soon as I get around to the it I'll be shifting Rotorhead from a catalogue site to a classifieds site so whatever items I don't ship myself will be listed directly by the suppliers. That way you'll pay them directly, and can reverse the payment with them in the rare instance that goods don't arrive in a timely fashion.

Damn,

D'arcy, I don't know if you bother checking in from time to tome, but my heart goes out to ya man. First the crash, then all this.

I really hope that you get back on your feet and clear everything up soon. I know the 1st gen section would definitely love to see you in here again. Screw the lounge people - you were a great contributing member of the 1st gen section since before I even found this forum. We've had people chased away who've come back, we've even had people banned who we've gotten unbanned (just ask our *new* moderators, Bob and Carl ). I know I'd love to see you stick your head in the 1st gen section from time to time.

You've got friends here Manntis,
Jon

PS: Bob, I don't know how you got that post, but if you could relay this back to him... if his rotorhead e-mail is down and he doesn't check his PMs, I don't know how to reach him!

^^^^ what they said....

Though when I ordered through rotorhead.ca my order took quite a while to come through, it looked in the end like it was indeed the fault of the actual shipper (who made the item I ordered).

Manntis is a good guy and I miss his presence here too.

Manntis operates rotorhead.ca more as a service to the community rather than a money-making enterprise. Unfortunately some of his suppliers have been flaking out on him, leaving him to hold the bag with customers that ordered through his site. Most times if there is a screw up from a supplier, he ends up losing money on the deal because of the slim margins he operates on.

He could jack up the prices and make more profit, but that was never the intent of the site. Anyhow like the post that innitab quoted said, it's been a pretty shitty year for him. Rest assured that anyone that ordered parts will be treated fairly, but it may not be as quick as we would all like.

I didn't know he was banned!? I mean, I was really wondering where he was as he was like the top poster. But I didn't thought people are getting banned all the time.
There's this stuff about the guy from rotaryshack, the fact that Manntis is gone... Eh, any system in this? Like "let's ban all the intresting people so the forum becomes useless" or something? Or can I get banned now, for saying this?
These people were very contributing to the RX-7 community, so there's no point in banning them. It's also really screwed up to be banned because of "political views", on a CAR forum???
It's very simple: either they bring back the intresting pople, or the forum will fade out. And ban those who ban... (if that makes any sense )

Manntis wasn't banned, he was "chased away"

meaning he still *has* his account, but because of the mass PMs and the people watching for his posts so they could flame him, he stopped trying.

At least that's what I caught.

I agree that it's stupid for him to be attacked personally for his political beliefs, especially on a CAR forum. Now if he were a "V8 into Rx7" advocate, that I could understand.. but that's less a political and more of a religious belief

I still believe it's a great loss to the first gen forum.
As for V8 into Rx7, ok, I agree, that'd be a real genuine reason to spam someones mailbox

And yes, me too would like to know what the exact reason was, anyone?

From what I gather the political arguement involved the current war in Iraq, and the differing viewpoints. Though if I recall correctly Manntis did post here recently. So perhaps he will return to us.

I made an order in early December myself for some parts.

I finally stoped payment on my credit car in mid-January.

The guy did not even seem to feel bad about it.

he responded to my emails after I cancelled the CC payment all of a sudden wanting to redo the order.

He kept blaming it on shipping and after I did a little research with CP racing ( where he gets some of his parts) I found out he waited 3 weeks before he bothered to put in the order.

The part HAd NOT EVEN BEEN SHIPPED YET and he was blaming it on the post office.

That makes Rotorhead.ca full of ****.

Then I am to assume you missed the ls1 in the 3rd gen this weekend. Anyone who doubts a v-8 in a mazda is missing out.

Explain???
Just don't get me started on piston swaps again...
It's bullshit, and it's useless. It's something for those who don't understand or can't afford rotary power.
In Europe RX-7's are just a bit more expensive to run, so no kids are buying it if they don't really understand and want the car. So no V8 or whatever swaps here. God thanks!
Mazda won numerous races with rotary power in IMSA racing, so that proves you don't need V8's.

He has helped out the first gen site big time.............

If he is getting flamed from others now everytime he posts........Why cant the moderators block those flamers
Its not like he cheap shotted some guy from behind and broke his neck........

You're so wrong about this you've used up all your mistakes for the rest of your life. Manntis religiously submits all orders to his suppliers as soon as he recieves them. CP racing then doesn't even build the friggin part for weeks, leaving Manntis holding the bag.
