What years ran the better looking 13" rims? Salvage search.

I'm fixing to buy performance tires for autocross use, and figure this would be a good time to get rid of the early 1st gen. waffle rims. Those things are impossible to clean, and I like the looks of the later 1st gen. rims. I'm assuming these better looking rims were also 13", but I may be wrong.

Does anybody know the year models that the better looking, non-waffle rims were on? And were they also 13"?

I'm thinking of doing a search with the salvage yards.

Thanks in advance.

They were on 81 to 85 12A cars We refer to them at the + style rims. they are 13's

The low model cars would have steel wheels but you dont see many of them.

If you want to drive down to houston, I'll sell you a set of mine, and they would come pre-wrapped with r-compound tires. I'll pm you my number.

5.5" wide rims aren't going to be the greatest for autocross, I'd try to find some 6" wide wheels at least.

Wankelguy why wouldn't the 5.5 be good for autocrossing? I need to know because I am in the process of buy some Khumos for autocrossing for my factory wheels.

79 le wheels are the best looking stock wheels IMO, but they're pretty rare.

I think they are fine. You can put 205/60's on them and have amazing grip with R compound tires. We don't have tons of horsepower, so you don't have to worry a lot about overpowering 205's. They'll let you keep your momentum through the turns which will make you a fast car. Just look at the spec7 racers.

Thumbs up 215/50 R-13

I have Bridgestone SF-330 Eager 215/50 R-13 in my stock rims, they look great and they grip to the road like nothing else...

Here a pic of my car with the rims... Hope you like it and see them...

Hey thanks Legokcen. I am looking at a couple of options on tirerack.com. The size they offer are 205/60's. Yes what tire manufacturer do you recommend?
