What would you do?

I've Have 2 identical white 85 gsl's both in great shape but both unfortunately as you probably know by the lack of se is they're 12a's. Now here's the question i'm hoping a true rx7 guru can answer. I'm finally in a position to do some performance up-grades to the tune of about 5k each. I've been searching like mad and have found lots of parts but an educated outside opinion would be greatly appreciated.
So what would you do to a near stock 12a with 5k

What do you not do?

You want a turbo set up? You can afford a crazy one.

You want a massive port job? You can go that route too.

If I read this right and see that you have five grand for each car, I say do a TII swap in one of them, and do a bridgeported 12a in the other. Those are my dreams anyway.

And don't ever let me read you post that it is unfortunate to have 12a's!

+1 I would just take 10K and focus on one. Why do you need two?

But anyways, I would do one bridged 12a for autox, road corse, whatever, and a 13B powered car that is focus twords more drag racing or higher power.

Letting one go isn't an option for me. Just couldn't let her go.

haha Of course you can't find a turbo kit for the 12a. Even if you did it would be a drawthrough and suck.

You have to piece everything together yourself, and it involved a lot of custom fabrication. Search for your answers there.

And as far as the whole not letting one of them go and it not being an option, I don't know why you wouldn't be able to let her go; but I said the same thing and here I just put my first FB up for sale locally yesterday.

When rebuilding the engine, you do a bridgeport on it. That is what I would mean by a bridged 12a. A bridgeported 12a. Great power for all motor fun, horrible gas mileage, what a sports car is all about.

And for your question, DriftFB, I would want two for the simple reason that a turbocharged 13b on stock ports would get killer gas mileage in comparison to a bridgeported 12a. I would still want to daily drive my FB, but would hate the gas mileage of daily driving a brdigeported 12a. Having two gives you the option to have the best of both worlds. All motor and boosted power.

Nah, for now the garage stays full. I may sell one some day but not anytime soon. What i may even do is just keep one bone stock and just bring her back to mint. The other definetly wants some upgrades.

Make one fast and the other reliable and comfortable. HP breaks stuff.

Umm, how 'bout leave it stock, except maybe a free flow exhaust and some ignition upgrades? Saves money, saves value and looks better.

An MSD6A on the leading and three coil setup would be key for both cars.

I would keep one stock. Restore it and make it mint. Then i would put a 20b(3 rotor engine) In the other and keep everything the interior and exterior stock so its the total sleeper. . Thats just my opinion. Oh ya, welcome to the forum and god bless

Nice ride ray, I need to pull another 50 hp minimum out of her. I wish ignition and exhaust alone would do it. Actually i had them both in last fall and ran New 2'exhaust header to tip last fall. Pace setter headers, no cat's louvered resonators and dynomax mufflers. Don't know it they're any good but they sound way better.

Put an FD motor in one and a LS1 motor in the other.

I have a supercharged 383 stroker in an ol chev truck i abandoned as a project a couple years ago. I am humoring the idea of a conversion kit but i figure it's too wrong to take away the rotay

No. Keep it rotary powered. No, you can do what you want. Ya, you want to keep the rotary in there. Theres cars on here with the stock motors that have over 300,000 miles on them. Shows you how reliable they are.

With two look-a-like cars you could really mess with peoples heads.
