What a world of difference!

i just got done doing a minor tune up on my 79. i put a dab of castrol gtx 20w-50 in and change the stock spark plugs to some new second gen NGKs i had laying around. (car has had the point ignition changed) and it made a ton of difference. this is on the first start up of the day. pumped the gas pedal once and had ignition instead of 30 times, flood, eventual ignition. car doesnt stumble when i downshift to 2nd to make u-turns or slower corners, and really, all out drivability is better.

maybe some of those lazy folks like me will go tune your car a bit too haha. =) just wanted to point out what a difference it made. take it easy everyone.

At first I thought 20W-50 was too thick for the engine. Then, I take a peak inside a repair manual and wow, I was wrong. I've been sticking in 10W-30 ever since I got the car. Hope that's not doing anything bad to the engine. Had the car for over 1.5 years, no problems that I can tell.

From manual:
15 degrees F to 100 degrees F = 20W-40
15 to 120 = 20W-50
0 to 85 = 10W-30
0 to 100 = 10W-40
0 to 120 = 10W-50
Below 0 = 5W-20 or 5W-30

its a cleaner that will harden the carbon deposits in the engine, and when you fire it up blow them all out of the xhaust. Not to forget that its just FUN to do. You will have GIGANTIC clouds of think black smoke pouring out of you exhaust. Its hilarious. Just ont do it in a closed parking garage. i did that with my GTP a few years back and everyone in the condo complex gave me dirty looks for weeks because i covered their cars in a thick layer of soot. had to pay a few people for car washes. Was worth it though because I had to use my headlights to get out of the garage!!!

No, don't go for the big show because in my opinion it just wastes the product. Dump a full can into the gas tank when you're down to about 1/8 tank, then take her out for a good hard rompin'. You should feel a change in horsepower within a few miles. After that, don't be afraid to take the motor up to the redline a few times a day as this will help prevent the return of carbon buildup. It's the carbon that starts jamming the apex seals, which then reduces compression and hp. I do this every few months and always feel a big difference. Try it, you'll like it!

On the driver side of the car infront of the axel. It can be a clear, white, metal, or brown if really dirty filter right by the fuel pump.

If you jack up the car from the rear its pretty easy to see. You can probably see it without jacking it up
