will an 86 5speed bolt up to a 83 gsl?

 

It'll bolt up to the engine/flywheel/clutch, assuming it's from a N/A.

The tranny mounts are all different and the shifter is in a different place. The tailhousing/shifter assembly from the '83 can be put on the FC (N/A only!) transmission for a direct bolt-in fit.

The FC gearing sucks, though.

edit: You might have problems with interference with the oil cooler hardline, assuming you still have the beehive.
