Great thanks for the info and the warm welcome guys

Not sure about removing the rats nest (loving the name BTW - whoever came up with that name needs a pat on the back lol) though as I still have the standard exhaust system on the car and can't afford to replace it with a fancy new one and don't want to clog the cat up or worse, have it glowing red under me potentially causing a fire!

Been trying to find out about the standard belts, can't seem to find part numbers on them though. Which is the belt to run the airpump, water pump and then the other one to run the fan, alternator and water pump

I'm sure I will get the info from the manuals

The belts should easily be found from any auto parts store. IIRC, the airpump belt goes around the air pump pulley, the water pump pulley, and the eccentric shaft pulley.

Except for the Mirrors, that looks like a standard S3, as sold in the UK.

They're electric, maybe an optional extra from the factory?

Going to get the belts sorted, get the engine cleaned and tidied, give it a major service and give the bodywork the TLC is deserves in anticipation for next season

Will fire up a few progress pics when I get the chance. Thanks for the help guys.

Really the oddest car I've seen to date. Sure it has the 12a engine and what looks like all the 13b goodies as far as suspension goes. Which would classify it as mentioned previously as a Europian GSL-SE. But what I find really interesting is that the dash look like the 81-83 style. Now I'm not sure how it was down there, but you would think they would of used the 84-85 style cluter that came with the same models here instead of reusing the old ones.

One poster already mentioned that in europe they didn't use the "new" style dash of 84-85, just kept the 81-83 style dash. I've read a little bit about european RX-7's, and they differ from the north american ones quite a bit actually. The use of a 6 port 12A instead of the 13B is probably the biggest difference. And to whoever said that comment about the 6 port 12A having a black air cleaner, I do believe your right, and it even says on the air cleaner that its a 6 port.

The Importer (distributor or dealer scheme) was responsible for determining configuration. That is how they came. I explained this in detail on the e-mail list 7, 8 years ago now here again.

i made mention of the european diferences in an earlier post as well as the 6 port having the balck air cleaner assembly. after looking at Coog's engine, a keen eye will note the "old" style air cleaner from the 79-80 era.

euro spec car for 84-85 is to us americans, as a gsl-se suspension, gs seats, with the rear wiper, and wings, different mirrors etc.

the engine is a 12a 4 port, its close to the us spec 12a, but with bigger ports, so its up 10hp. not sure if its a catylist or a thermal reactor. the FC's have a reactor, so maybe this does too?

All the UK models I owned or saw had blue air cleaners. They were outfitted like Coog's.

FirebirdSlayer666, I have some of those ugly fenders, if you want to make me an offer, lol.
