OK, I am confused.... I am not stupid, but this thread is making me look so! anyhow, here, from the Racing Beat web site, is "the system:"

Racing Beat offers a complete RX-7 high-performance exhaust system for the 1984-85 13B (GSL-SE) RX-7. This system includes our Header/Collector, a Power-Pulse Presilencer, and our legendary Power Pulse main muffler. The Power Pulse Presilencer unit is equipped with a backpressure pickup tube that allows the correct operation of the 6-Port intake actuators. Be careful, if you are considering a replacement exhaust system that does not have this important feature, your intake system will not perform correctly and a noticeable decrease in high RPM performance will occur.

These components attach to all stock mounting points, and include all necessary gaskets and hangers. The only component not included is the factory connecting pipe that mounts just ahead of the main muffler. There is no horsepower to be gained by replacing this pipe with a larger diameter assembly. If your factory connecting pipe needs replacing, we suggest you contact your local Mazda dealer.

So OK, how does this deffer from what you all were describing earlier in the thread? It's header, presilencer, and muffler. What don't I understand?

It's a RB header, RB presiliencer, and RB muffler - all designed to work together. Not a cobbled together multi-brand system. And RB has a reputation for long-term reliability. Remember, this is the one aftermarket supplier Mazda has actually used to make production parts for some of their cars.

I think I got it now; thanks Manntis! So, ot's not that the header/pre/muffler combo is bad, it's just that getting the RB pieces is a good combo since they are tuned as a system.

RB header, RB presilencer, and RB muffler. Sounds great and it wont blow your eardrums up. Only a little louder than stock.

well, you have header, then some piping, then a presilencer, then more piping, then over the rear axle, then muffler.
