What is this for? Pic...
Thank you,
~Jason
...actually I meant to circle what I was refering to. Anyway it's directly to the left of the top left carb bolt on the intake manifold.

I'm pretty sure that's the "thing" that's got a vacuum cap on it from the factory. No clue what it IS, but it should be capped.
That's a REALLY bad angle, btw. Would've been a bit better facing the object in question, because it could be at any height on (or below!) the intake

What's the deal here? Everyone complaining about the picture?! I specifically stated where the object in question is and then circled it. I'd like to know for sure what this is...

dude, just put some silicone on the shaft and a rubber cap on top. then zip tie the rubber cap. dunno what it does. look slike a 1980 car which had a smog diddly on the intermeidate plate and all.
Golden rule is, when removing vacuum lines, smog and such, just unbolt it and silicone the tube then slide a rubber cap on top of it. Zip tie to be sure. less crap on there the better.

Just wanted to make sure I don't need it for anything. It's not for the brake booster as I already know where that's at. Guess I'll cap it. I just figured you guys would know what it's for.
Youre right. And we told you what its for. Its a vacuum port
You dont need it, so cap it just like everything else you dont need. If you need it later, un cap it. Also, IMO silicone on the vacuum caps is overkill if you use properly sized caps of a decent quality. Those cheap small zip ties couldnt hurt anything though, yet Ive never used them myself and never had any problems. I mostly see that kinda sealing on cars where they have a turbo system that has pressure running through small lines like the vacuum lines so they dont blow off, or the vacuum lines have a tendency to fall off, lol. When I put a hose techniques kit on my cousins 3rd gen, we put zip ties on every line. Didnt take too much longer actually, and more peace of mind.

Hey, the only reason I was bashing your pic was the angle. If it were facing the tube in question, it would have been MUCH easier to tell what it was. I wasn't sure if that was connecting to the carb or the intake, or even the top of the motor!
When I ask for help on what something is, I take multiple pictures at different angles, especially FACING IT, or at a 3/4 view. Just some advise for the future.
