make up your mind do you want performance or a road car? If you want to make that kinda horsepower its not going to be streetable what-so-ever. If you want to make a smog legal setup maybe you need to look at other options... I don't mean to sound like a dick but you can't expect to get performance and good emissions with these cars, the fact of the matter is they burn fuel like mad and pollute even worse...

The top power for a 12A is around 850hp and for the 13B just over 1000hp in drag racing set-up. Reliability is great as long as you do an engine strip down every ten miles.

The best figures I know for street legal cars are 480hp and 625 hp. At that level fuel consumption is around 4-5 mpg while driveability is limited especially in the wet!

For a daily driver around 250-275hp is a good compromise of engine and chassis performance in a Gen 1. You can get that performance from a 12A with an aftermarket turbo or 13BT. The engine will be good for 100,000+ miles. The 13B with its bigger capacity will give 8-10% more power in identical set-ups, but the 12A will give you 250hp with reliability and reasonable fuel consumption. In my experience that is adequate for fast touring and a 12-13 second 1/4 mile.

Damn thats nice to know about 12A with turbo how good they sound to be. What would cost to get a 12A engine + tubro setup to make a good 200 - 250HP? A normal range price for a good setup like that with good gas miles I guess.. Not that they give very good gas miles anyways.

if you currently have a carb'd 12a in your 1st gen with good compression. just turbo charge it with parts from a TII. you can even use the stock nikki!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH it's so great

The cost of the engine and turbo is only half the total expenditure, you need to upgrade the suspension, brakes, clutch and flywheel to get matched performance and handling. I suggest around $6k will get you a great gen 1.

As for fuel consumption, my 12A turbo fuel injected car has 215rwhp at 12psi ,and uses 22mpg around town and 28mpg on the highway cruising at 70mph. With oil at $65+ a barrel, low fuel consumption in a daily driver is important.

Well, my engine could be completing about 120K or so and the chassis is around near to 155K holding 154K at the moment. Would I need then to rebuilt my engine in order to do this? However I might need to rebuilt it due to a slow oil leak from it. Beside that the car run strong and dosen't have any problem redlining it.

I'm about to drop a semi-stock S5 TII motor in. I'm hoping for low 13s. Maybe high 12s if I'm lucky. But I don't drag, so I may never find out.

Semi-stock means, TMIC, and engine. Aftermarket BOV, and exhaust, and a K&N on the turbo inlet.

More power means more breakage. I put a 13B Big Port with a holley into my FB and killed my stocker tranny in no time.

As for fuel milage. 8MPG tops in the city. That carb was Craaaaaazy.

So I bought a daily driver and I have my 7 to screw around in.

As for power? 200 at the wheel should net you 13's in the 1/4 no problem.

200rwhp will get you in to the low 13's unless you have bald tires or just don't know how to drive at the strip... which does take some getting used to. i'm getting the same gas mileage now that i was before the turbo setup and i'm using the same nikki carb. ohhhh yes!

Lovintha7: make sure you have enough fuel to compensate for the boost creep you are gonna get from the larger exhaust. if you are going to be running the stock ecu then you will need the fuel cut defender and depending on whether you go to 10psi or higher (most likely because of boost creep) you will need bigger secondary injectors........ or you could carb it

A13bTrx7: you better research how you plan on fuel injecting that 12a. if you want to use TII intake manifolds and throttle body then use a 13b center plate when rebuilding it so you can add the injectors in the motor. if not, you could use twm side draft style FI. $$$$$$$$ i say keep it carb'd

on both setups you guys NEED TO PORT YOUR WASTEGATE!!! i've been finishing mine up today because i was hitting 18psi WITH NO BOOST CONTROLLER OF ANY SORT!!
