What Happened?

Well,

I was going around town today and I started to think about when I first got my car.

When I first got it, I could literally bark the hell out of the 1-2 shift and now I have to really try to get it to bark...it also seems like my car keeps getting slower.

I think I’m going to put the old wires back on there until I can get some NGK Wires because the BOSCH Wires seems like they slowed me down.

I KNOW my air filter is dirty as hell and I plan on getting a new one but wanted to wait to afford the K&N filter.

She DOES run rich on start up but smoothes right out after a few seconds (i.e. smoke for a second). No smoke on WOT or anything like that.

What's happening to my car? The compression for its just fine by the woosh example.

Do an actual compression test and get numbers.

That was my first thought, but see here's the thing when I change the coil wires and clean up the cap it works like it used to but after a few days its right back to normal.

I'm going to put the old wires and cap back on and see if that makes any difference.

Tech check you vacume advance make sure its working properly. if you timeing gets a little off, it will fubar your cap really quick, and make it run craptastically slow.

get a vacumn hand pump and remove the vacumn line on the dizzy, hook it to the vacumn pump give it a vew squeezes and you should see the linkage in the dizzy move as you pump it up. if it doesn't move, or if it moves, but not in time with your pumps (sticking but moves occasionally) then you have problems with it.

if it moves fine, then reassemble, start car pull advance at idle, and check to see if the hose actaully has a vacumn.

are you sure its not your clutch/pressure plate? I know that can make a helluva difference if you replace it...just a thought...
